Therapists for college students near New York, NY
I'm Lex E Santí. Therapist. Writer. Professional overthinker. If you’ve ever tried to “just relax” and immediately thought of seventeen reasons why that’s impossible — you’re my kind of person. I work with people sorting through relationships, anxiety, creative blocks, and the general weirdness of being human. My sessions mix curiosity, structure, and the occasional well-timed eye roll at life’s absurdities. Before private practice, I spent years in crisis intervention and higher ed mental health. Now, I help clients rewrite their stories — with more agency, more humor, and fewer plot holes. Licensed in NY and DE. Individual and group sessions available.
I believe in creating a warm and welcoming environment, and that everyone deserves to be treated with respect and sensitivity, especially our children, adolescents, young adults & families. Assisting individuals to overcome life struggles and who have experienced abuse or trauma is one of my specialties. I have been working with children, adolescents, Individuals, and families who are struggling with anxiety, depression, relationships, life transitions, traumatic experiences, behavior issues and other emotional difficulties for over 19 years.
I am a licensed marriage and family therapist in the state of NY and CT. Many clients are confused when they hear my title and expect that I treat only marriages and families. Our name is a misnomer. I treat individuals, couples and families. My areas of focus with individuals are anxiety, panic, depression, adjustment disorders and trauma. I am an EMDR therapist and have certificates in DBT, TF-CBT and MBSR. I am also skilled in working with relationship difficulties. I consider myself to be very open-minded, accepting and empowering. I welcome the opportunity to support you on your journey in healing.
Historically, I have worked with children and adults processing trauma, and supported those diagnosed with ADHD, Anxiety, and Depression. However, in recent years I have begun to narrow my focus on supporting University students. At this time in history I feel supporting the mental health of this group is of the utmost importance as they face existential and emotional challenges unique to the generations that have come before. Using a combination of creative interventions and talk therapy techniques, I offer a unique and collaborative therapeutic experience to support individuals through the transitional space of University life and provide a safe and affirming space for them to reflect on who they are and who they want to be in this world.
Do you feel exhausted from trying to hold everything together? Maybe you have always been the responsible one or the person others rely on. You pushed through stress, anxiety, and family challenges because you felt like you had to. At first it seemed manageable, but now the pressure feels heavier and harder to carry. On the outside you appear confident and put together. Inside you might feel overwhelmed, burnt out, or worried that you cannot keep this up much longer. Wanting a break does not mean you are failing. It means you are human. I’m Sara, and I help students who are tired of perfectionism, constant pressure, and the weight of expectations. I work with people who want healthier relationships, better communication, and support as they process past experiences that still affect them today. My background includes ACT, CBT, TF-CBT, Brainspotting, and group therapy training, which allows me to tailor our work to what you need. In our sessions, you can expect a warm, honest, and real environment where you can finally let your guard down. I show up as myself so you can feel comfortable showing up as yourself too. Hi! I work best with clients who are figuring out who they are, where they belong, and how to navigate stress, relationships, and big life changes. Many of the people I support come from multicultural, multiracial, Indigenous, LGBTQIA+, or immigrant backgrounds, and are looking for a space where all parts of their identity are understood and respected. You might be dealing with anxiety, family pressure, identity questions, or feeling overwhelmed balancing everything. Some clients I work with are also navigating the impact of immigration experiences, acculturation stress, or racial trauma, whether from personal experiences, family history, or systemic challenges. These experiences can shape how you see yourself and move through the world, and you do not have to process them alone. You do not have to have it all figured out. Therapy can be a place to slow down, make sense of your experiences, and find ways to move forward that feel right for you. In sessions, we will look at both the deeper parts of your story and practical tools to help you feel better day to day. I often use a mix of approaches, including exploring patterns from your past, building coping strategies, and working on how your thoughts and feelings connect. My style is warm, collaborative, and grounded in respect for your lived experience. I aim to create a space where you feel safe being fully yourself, no pressure, no judgment, just support as you grow, heal, and navigate this stage of life.

Substances have a way of putting us on a merry-go-round that will not stop. Substances help us regulate our mood, push out the uncomfortable, keep us walled off from our surroundings. Something happens in life, and we "want to stop", but do not know how to stop. And, we use again. If you are struggling with substances, unhappy with your life, tired of chasing the next high, ask for help. You can text or call me. Maybe it is time for you to rethink your relationship to substances.

Welcome! I'm Krystal Haas, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC). You may see letters next to the names you find on your search, like LCSW, PsyD, or LMHC, and so on. Looking for a therapist can be a daunting and confusing task, so first I'd like to congratulate you on taking your first step. I'm hoping I can make it a little easier by sharing about myself and how I may be able to help you reach your goals. In my case, as an LMHC, my master's degree education was geared specifically to counseling and learning all of the skills necessary to work directly with people. I've been working for about 5 years now as a clinician, and started my private practice at the end of 2022 - one of the best decisions I've ever made! I work with a variety of ages including kids, teens, and young adults, and I often work with individuals who are struggling with the transition to college and/or adulthood. If you've been experiencing anxiety, depression, changes in mood, identity exploration, stress, or problems with "adulting", then we may be a good match! I use methods like CBT, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness, and eclectic methods, but that may all sound like gibberish. Essentially, I take an educational and supportive approach by listening to your concerns and needs, and then working with you to establish a way to reach your goals. Even if we don't have all the answers right away, it can help to know you have someone on your team to listen. If this sounds up your alley, you're more than welcome to reach out by phone or email to schedule a free 15 minute consultation. I hope to connect, and wish you best of luck on your search!
