Therapists for college students near 19104
I am a licensed psychologist who works with young adults who are seeking help with emotional, social, and behavioral problems. Building a strong therapeutic relationship is essential to creating change. My goal is to create a safe, supportive environment to help you navigate the challenges you're facing. I use CBT and other evidence-based treatments, tailored to each individual, to help meet their needs and achieve their goals. I also conduct neuropsychological assessments for various concerns including ADHD, learning disabilities, memory problems etc. My background in school psychology has trained me to collaborate and consult with other professionals, including school counselors, teachers, doctors, and other specialists to work as a team to improve outcomes for my clients. I also have training in treating teens and college students with depression, anxiety, and self-harm. Beginning therapy can be an anxiety-inducing and scary process. My goal is to create a comfortable, safe, and supportive environment where we can work together to help you cope with whatever challenges and stressors you're facing. Please contact me by email or phone to see if we would be a good fit.

Maybe you’ve been navigating transitions, exploring questions about your identity, or noticing patterns that keep repeating in your relationships or sense of self. You’re ready to reflect, grow, and take meaningful steps toward a life that feels authentic, connected, and empowering. The students I work best with often feel overwhelmed by their emotions and struggle with patterns that seem difficult to change. You may find yourself experiencing intense emotions, relationship challenges, impulsive behaviors, self-criticism, or feeling stuck in cycles that leave you frustrated and exhausted. Many of my clients have spent years trying to cope on their own but continue to feel overwhelmed by stress, conflict, anxiety, depression, or emotional ups and downs. They often want to better understand themselves, build healthier relationships, and develop practical skills for handling difficult emotions without making things worse. In our work together, we'll focus on learning effective strategies to manage intense feelings, tolerate distress, and recognize unhelpful behavior patterns. My goal is to help you gain greater control over your emotions, make choices that align with your values, and create lasting changes that improve your overall well-being. If you're ready to better understand yourself and build skills for navigating life's challenges, we may be a good fit.
Our minds are powerful—they can pull us into the past or push us into the future, making it hard to stay grounded in the present. When this happens, we can feel stuck in patterns of anxiety, self-doubt, or emotional pain, often losing touch with our sense of identity, purpose, and what matters most. This can be especially true during times of transition, like college or early adulthood, when you may be navigating academic pressure, relationships, career uncertainty, or figuring out who you are and where you’re headed. As a therapist, I work collaboratively with you to identify what’s keeping you stuck and help you reconnect with your life in a meaningful way. Together, we’ll explore your experiences, build on your existing strengths, and develop practical tools to support lasting change. I provide a supportive, nonjudgmental space where you can gain clarity, find relief, and grow. I specialize in addiction, anxiety, depression, trauma, and OCD, and I welcome anyone navigating life’s challenges—especially young adults looking for direction, balance, and support.
Finding a comfortable fit between you and your therapist is a very important first step in the process of choosing a qualified licensed psychologist. My approach to therapy involves working in a collaborative, respectful, open, direct, and warm manner. Since our past and present often weave together, exploring the present within the context of the past helps us to understand life patterns which may greatly impact one's relationships, career, and overall physical and mental health. Psychotherapy is not easily described in general statements. There are many different methods I may use to deal with the problems that you hope to address. Behavior therapy is not like a medical doctor visit. Instead, it calls for a very active effort on your part. In order for the therapy to be most successful, you will have to work on things we talk about both during our sessions, in between sessions, and at home. Psychotherapy can have benefits and risks. Since therapy often involves discussing unpleasant aspects of your life, you may experience uncomfortable feelings such as sadness, guilt, anger, frustration, loneliness, and helplessness. On the other hand, psychotherapy has also been shown to have benefits for people who go through it. Therapy often leads to better relationships, solutions to specific problems, and significant reductions in feelings of distress. But there are no guarantees of what you will experience. Our first few sessions will involve an evaluation of your needs. By the end of the evaluation, I will be able to offer you some first impressions regarding our work together, including a treatment plan to follow if you decide to continue with therapy. You should evaluate this information along with your own opinions of whether you feel comfortable working with me. Therapy involves a large commitment of time, money, and energy, so you should be very careful about the therapist you select. If you have questions about my procedures, we should discuss them whenever they arise.
I hope to create a safe, supportive, non-judgemental counseling environment for my clients to reach their therapeutic goals. I want to offer you a counseling experience that is catered to your unique needs. I have a background in working with a wide population from children to adults with a variety of mental health and career concerns. I have experience working with individuals with disabilities, specifically intellectual disabilities (IDD) as well as neurotypical individuals. My approach is integrative, drawing from multiple evidenced-based practices to tailor to the client’s needs. My goal is to empower you with the tools and insights necessary to make meaningful and lasting changes.
