Whether you are looking for a safe place to discuss whatever is on your mind, are interested in making life changes, or just want to give therapy a try, I welcome the opportunity to meet with you and see how I may be able to help. You can count on me to be reliable, truthful, and kind. My approach to therapy recognizes the importance of building a strong therapeutic relationship. I identify as queer and specialize in working with members of the LGBTQIA2S+ community. I am an affirming practitioner. I have over 20 years of experience working with college and graduate students in college counseling centers, and as a result I've had the privilege of working with many people from all around the world. My therapeutic approach is culturally informed and integrates a whole-person perspective along with socio-cultural/political awareness and acknowledgement of the impact of systemic barriers on functioning. I am mindful of my own areas of privilege and how I show up in spaces and may be perceived by others. I attend to how I perceive others based on my own life experiences. I'm always working to educate myself and challenge my assumptions and biases. I read, try to keep up on the news (around the world, not just in the U.S.), and try to engage in conversations with people from various backgrounds. If you would like to have a brief, introductory conversation to discuss what you are looking for and how I may be able to help, please give me a call or send an email. An initial screening consultation is free. I look forward to hearing from you.
I help clients who are trying to manage stress, anxiety, self-esteem or relationship issues and life transitions. Often clients are navigating a change in their lives, such as their educational path, career, or relationships. I support clients through these transitions and provide a safe, therapeutic environment where they can explore their individuality and strengths. Clients are also supported through the process of examining maladaptive patterns of thought and/or behavior with the use of Psychodynamic, Relational and CBT frameworks. These approaches, combined with a strong therapeutic relationship, help to foster an increased awareness and greater sense of empowerment, which can increase overall quality of life.

Life often brings us to a crossroads - where old perspectives, ways of feeling and being meet a desire for something new. Self-criticism, pain from past hurt, and fear of the future can create distance from a sense of aliveness, and hold us back from meaningful change. Over time, this may show up as relationship conflict, lack of purpose, feeling confused or numb, anxious, or depressed. Often these patterns are rooted in early relationships or unresolved experiences that shape how we view the world, attach and relate. I see therapy as a process of helping clients reconnect with themselves; rebuilding clarity, self-trust, and agency. Therapy with me is collaborative, authentic, and most importantly - rooted in the safety and trust of relationship. It is important to me to balance authenticity, warmth and humor, with honesty and directness. I offer traditional talk therapy and somatic practices that help you understand, process, and relate to your emotions - and whole self - in new ways.
