I center on each client’s needs, creating a space that fosters insight and practical tools so that clients feel more grounded, clear, and aligned with their values. I will meet you with enthusiasm, compassion, empathy, and humor.
Maybe you are trying to understand your pain, and what you can do about it. Sometimes you might feel empty and numb, or you might feel flooded with overwhelming and difficult feelings. You may have tried to make changes, but you see the same problems coming up again and again in your relationships. Maybe you long to find a sense of meaning, and to feel fully alive. Healing will mean challenging yourself to sit with painful feelings and face your fears. It will be helpful for you to find a safe place to do this hard work. Together, we can make your recovery and growth a priority. I like to work with adults who are experiencing depression, anxiety, emotional concerns, or relationship difficulties. I am committed to providing warmth, support, and challenge to build deep collaborative relationships that yield lasting results. Your struggles, experiences, and feelings are real. They deserve space, attention, and care. I am glad you are looking for help. If you are ready to reach out, leave a voicemail or email me at scottwrightphd@gmail.com to set up a free 15-minute phone consultation. College can intensify pressure to succeed, make the “right” choices, and hold it all together, often alongside anxiety, perfectionism, people pleasing, relationship issues, or concerns about food, body image, or control. I work with college students and young adults who appear high-functioning on the outside but feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure of themselves on the inside. Together, we slow things down, identify patterns that keep you stuck, and build insight and skills that support real, lasting change. My approach is collaborative, thoughtful, and tailored to you as a whole person, not a set of symptoms. I hold the CEDS-C credential, the highest certification in eating disorder treatment, and support students whose anxiety or perfectionism shows up around food, body image, or self-worth. Therapy can be a space to pause, feel understood, and reconnect with what matters most, without having to pretend you’re fine or push through alone.
Hello, I'm a mental health counselor licensed in the state of NY. I have worked in community mental health since 2015 in both clinic and primary care medical settings. My clients have presented a wide range of concerns, including: depression, anxiety, OCD, grief, substance abuse, capitalism, fascism, and adjustment to life after incarceration. Regardless of what issues bring you to therapy, I work from the assumption that YOU are not the problem. Rather, the situation is the problem, and we work together to transform it. This process often involves shifting your view, giving yourself grace, and deepening compassion for yourself. Before graduate school, I was a community organizer and activist addressing issues of social, ecological, and economic concern; my undergraduate degrees are in Community Health and Peace and Justice Studies. I often use a systems perspective to address problems, and I have experience working with trauma related to systemic harm and oppression. I strive to be supportive and curious in my role as a counselor. Working in this field means that I learn (and unlearn) every day. I am honored to walk alongside the people who invite me into their lives, and I do my best to offer honesty and compassion in a safe and respectful way. I value broad access to psychotherapy and gladly offer a sliding fee scale.
In our practice we provide authentic, inclusive, client-centered care to promote growth in a safe and compassionate environment. Providing a safe supportive space for clients to explore their unique challenges, strengths, and aspirations is essential in the work we do. We are committed to empowering you to find your inner strength and courage to discover a new path towards healing. Life is uncertain, therapy doesn’t have to be!
I am so glad you're here. You just took the hardest step, so take a second for a self-hug. I believe therapy is one of the most rewarding things you can offer yourself, so congratulations. We are all on our own journey, have our own individual needs, and a history that makes us who we are. In turn, I work with every person, meet them where they are at, support & guide them, through a treatment plan we build together, to help them with their day to day challenges, and long term goals. Therapy is a beautiful tool that, if used correctly, can be life changing. I enjoy nothing more than guiding people in finding their way & themselves. I pull much of my practice from life experiences. I am an honest, authentic New Yorker who is empathetic, yet direct. For decades I have worked with young adults (high school into college) navigating the intricacies of relationships, self love, identity searching and beyond. Life can be hard. We can be even harder on ourselves. It is easy to get overwhelmed, lost, confused - but we do not need to be on this journey alone. I'm a therapist, or a friend - whatever you need in the moment. Some people are anxious about entering therapy, but my approach is: what a gift to have someone in your corner who is simply there to support you.
Whether working through mood challenges, processing grief, exploring identity, or navigating relationship concerns, I aim to create a space where individuals can show up fully—without needing to edit themselves. My work is integrative and collaborative. Drawing from evidence-based modalities—like cognitive-behavioral therapy, insight-oriented exploration, and mindfulness—I customize each session to you. I view therapy as a co creative process: we work together to explore patterns, test new perspectives, and develop real-life strategies.

Welcome! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who works with adults navigating life transitions, anxiety, depression, grief, and trauma, particularly experiences related to family of origin and attachment. While I work with adults of all ages, I have a special interest in supporting emerging adults - including college, graduate, and medical students - as they manage the emotional and relational challenges that can arise during these stages of life. I support clients in addressing current life challenges while also seeking to answer questions about why these challenges exist in the first place. I do this through a collaborative, relational, and trauma-informed approach that blends deeper insight with practical support. Drawing from psychodynamic and attachment-based work, along with CBT, DBT, and mindfulness, I help clients understand patterns, regulate emotions, and build skills that support meaningful, lasting change. Starting therapy can feel uncertain, and it’s completely normal to have questions or mixed emotions. Please know you don’t have to figure it out on your own. I aim to create a space where you feel safe, supported, and understood. If you’re considering therapy, I invite you to reach out to see if we would be a good fit.
No one intends to be in therapy forever. Many clients arrive with familiar worries, yet the deeper concerns beneath those worries often tell a different story. They may say, “I want to fix my anxiety,” “fix my depression,” or “quit vaping weed.” What they’re truly expressing is a desire to flourish, to strengthen their relationships, and to finally move beyond the patterns that keep holding them back. I honor your courage that it takes to pursue meaningful change. As we begin our work together, we draw on a wide range of tools to help you reconnect with yourself and build a life that feels more purposeful, fulfilling, and aligned with who you want to be. Clients leave sessions with renewed hope and practical skills that empower them to face challenges rather than avoid them. You’ll benefit from a therapeutic approach shaped by 15 years of experience and recognized excellence in the field. Reach out today to schedule your complimentary consultation. I guarantee that I'll follow up within three business days.
Finding a therapist can feel more overwhelming than continuing to bear the weight of stress and anxiety alone. Questions of identity, difficulty finding meaning, and navigating life’s transitions can often feel insurmountable on your own. Wondering if you’re going to show up to meet a therapist only to be judged, invalidated, or minimized can make you want to stop the search before you even start. My goal is to provide you with a warm and nonjudgmental space to explore and join with you in the healing process as you navigate the stressors that you are experiencing. I practice through a trauma informed lens and also consider the structures and systems that impact us. I incorporate feminist and liberation psychologies into my work. In partnering together, we can both accelerate the process of insight and change, and also gain more meaningful insights than through self-inquiry alone. I welcome patients from minoritized groups and have broad experience working with patients from diverse backgrounds. I aim to provide an inclusive environment for all people regardless of their gender identity, gender expression, or sexual orientation.

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the State of New York and is currently in the process of receiving my PhD in Mental Health Counseling at Pace University. I recognize that each individual is unique and is the expert in their own life. I utilize a person-centered approach focusing on key components of positive psychology and cognitive mindfulness techniques to help foster resilience when facing adversity. My therapeutic work focuses on helping clients gain insight into their thoughts, better identify emotions, and empower clients to make more mindful decisions for themselves. I am passionate about helping children, teens, and adults navigate their lives. I utilize creativity and mindfulness with my clients and incorporate stepping outside of the box to provide clients the opportunity to freely express themselves while learning healthy ways to communicate their emotions. My motto comes from my Great Aunt Mary: “Wherever you plant her, she will grow” This is the motto that I hold for all of my clients, wherever life might take you, you have the ability to grow to your full potential, even when planted in adverse and challenging environments. Every garden needs support to grow, let me be your support along your journey!

I enjoy helping to support people as they navigate through the many different waves of life. I help to create a warm, non judgmental, and supportive environment where clients are free to talk about their stories. I draw from a number of different treatment modalities, but most importantly, meet the client where they are at. While each individual's experience is unique, I regularly work with clients around topics related to anxiety, depression, obsessive thoughts, relationship concerns, sexuality, ADHD, life's transitions, familial conflict and many more. In this busy world, it can be difficult to make time to focus on your needs. Therapy provides a space to do so and share your story in a safe and non judgmental environment. Sessions are a time to practice self care, utilize your strengths, and develop tools that help you gain a better understanding of you. I would love to have the chance to work with you and hear your story. Currently, sessions are teletherapy based allowing you more flexibility to be in a familiar setting and join from any mobile or desktop device. I would love to help you with the process of learning more about you and develop the tools to navigate the many waves of life.
