Therapists for college students near University of Colorado Boulder
I believe the foundation of good health is rooted within oneself. My passion lies in supporting individuals who struggle with acknowledging their strengths and empowering them to tackle challenges with confidence. Whether individuals face diverse challenges or just need a listening ear, I am dedicated to providing a safe and supportive space for all. I place a high priority on meeting my clients where they feel most comfortable and working collaboratively with them towards their goals. Having worked in a range of settings such as schools, community health centers, and private practice, I bring a wealth of knowledge to advocate for each individual's unique needs. I specialize in accentuating strengths and equipping individuals with effective tools to achieve success, with one of the key tools being self-regulation. I firmly believe that our reactions to situations are among our greatest freedoms. I am excited to offer a non-judgmental and safe environment to start your journey of self-discovery and healing, regardless of where you are currently in life.
With an integrative approach to practicing therapy modalities, I have a professional focus centered on humanistic, experiential, and mindfulness styles. I utilize Person-Centered Therapy (Client-Centered/Rogerian), Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), Psychodynamic Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Gestalt Therapy (Experiential), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Existential Therapy. I believe in approaching the therapy relationship in a collaborative and supportive manner to help facilitate the process of growth and change.
Hello, I'm Jack. I am a Queer counselor in Colorado, focused on providing one-on-one support to individuals who are college-age and beyond. I create counseling relationships based on collaboration, consent, compassion, presence, and authenticity. My expertise lie in assisting young adults and adults who grapple with issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma, and exploring and navigating their gender and sexual identities. I use EMDR, body-centered therapy, and the power of creativity to support you in overcoming your past, responding to your present, and reclaiming self-love and authenticity. Whether you're seeking support in navigating the challenges of academic life and beyond or are determined to address and heal from past distress, I'm here for you. Let's talk.
My expertise is in helping people change how they feel or behave using evidence-based therapy and guidance. I focus on building a trusting relationship in which you feel open to discuss and work on whatever aspects of your life that you are hoping to change. People tell me they quickly feel at ease talking with me. Together we assess what feelings, thoughts or behaviors you would like to change or feel differently about or how you would like a relationship to be different. We make goals together to guide this process. I then guide you on how to make these changes, sustain them, and assess when you have attained them.
Hi, I'm Dr. Sarah Hewes, founder of Evergreen Teletherapy, LLC. I am licensed (LPC) in both Colorado and Connecticut. I decided to resume my private practice in hopes of being more accessible to clients using a virtual platform. I know we are busy and maybe want to save time by just logging on and having a session:) I hear you! I have 17+ years of clinical experience working with people who have struggled with eating disorders, body image, as well as anxiety, depression, relationship issues and life transitions (i.e., early adulthood, college, job changes, loss of athletic identity, changes in family dynamics). My clients have told me they like my warm yet direct approach. I look forward to meeting you and helping support you in your journey!
There is no “right” way to do therapy, and people need different kinds of help depending on their current life situation and stage of life. Some clients are in need of coping skills to help them with communication, emotion regulation and getting through stressful times. Other clients are looking for help finding meaning and purpose in their day to day lives. I use a combination of mindfulness, dream work, interpersonal skills, guided meditation, coping skills and active imagination to help clients find relief from symptoms related to anxiety, depression, lack of meaning, and struggles in their relationships. Over the last 25 years, I have worked in a variety of clinical settings helping people with various psychological difficulties including combat related issues, severe and persistent mental illness, cumulative relational trauma, psychological struggles related to brain injury, and trauma related to disasters and violence. I believe the goal of therapy is not necessarily to help clients pursue a “happier” life, or even self-awareness for the sake of self-awareness, but to better be able to bring a more soulful way of living back out into their lives; their families and relationships, communities, and the greater world.
I offer counseling and psychotherapy to a wide range of individuals and couples. My approach is integrative and collaborative and focused on the therapeutic relationship. The work will focus not only on what you feel and think, but also how you relate with others, how your body responds, and how meaning emerges through your lived experiences. Together we can explore patterns, bring awareness, cultivate compassion and find fresh perspectives to support you to thrive. At some point, many people realize that what they're doing is no longer working, but they're not sure what to do to fix it. I specialize in people (13+) and families who are dealing with conflict, self-defeating behaviors, anxiety, depression, stress, anger, loneliness, relationship issues, low self-esteem, or questions of identity. Through my practice, I've successfully helped clients move past issues that have blocked them from living fully, completely, and whole-heartedly. While working with me, they've been able to find more joy, happiness, success, and peace in the areas of their life that matter most to them. Together, we'll build your self-awareness, develop clarity on your goals and values, and foster an understanding of where you're coming from and where you'd like to go. I use several evidence-based modalities to help my clients do that, but the most important aspect of my practice is my relational, non-judgmental, open, direct, and clear approach. My work matters deeply to me and I feel a strong calling to give my clients my best, session after session. There's no better feeling I get than when my clients sense their progress and recognize that their life is changing in ways they've always longed for. If any of this has resonated with you, please don't hesitate to reach out. Let's talk.
“With adversity comes opportunity” from the I Ching- Or Book of Changes The decision to seek therapy can be due to times of stress or the desire to seek change. We know that change is not always a straight path. To take a “road less traveled” can be filled with a beautiful river that flows and leads to clarity or it be a be a river filled with large boulders that need to be traversed with help and support. Therapy can be a tool that facilitates resilience and transformation. My approach in therapy is to first engage in a process of discovery. As your therapist, we will work together to discover what events, situations, and relationships in your life or your past do not work for you now. It is really important to understand how your life works in order to set goals and create change. Most importantly, it is important to remember that change affects all the people in your life. College can be exciting, but it can also feel overwhelming in ways you didn’t expect. You might feel like everyone else has it figured out while you’re quietly struggling with stress, anxiety, relationship challenges, or feeling disconnected from yourself or others. Maybe you’re navigating a breakup, loss, or a shift in who you thought you’d be. I work with people who are trying to make sense of who they are while balancing school, relationships, and future pressure. My clients are thoughtful and self-aware, often the strong one for others, but underneath feel burned out or unsure of where they fit. In our work together, we’ll slow things down and make sense of what’s happening beneath the surface. Therapy is collaborative and active. I’ll help you understand patterns, build tools to manage stress, and feel more grounded, confident, and connected.
Hey! My name is Elena, I use she/her pronouns, and I work with rebels, rioters, and revolutionaries. My practice is one that centers and celebrates authenticity, courageous exploration, and a collaborative, therapeutic relationship. In practice, this can look like taking the time to build trust and connection, pulling from a wide variety of modalities, and curiosity and silliness when needed (which I believe is often!) I have seen many therapists feel the need to rush into “fixing”; in my work, there is no rush and there is no “fixing”. Together, we will sit in the messy experience of being human; exploring and learning from our pain while uplifting and celebrating the joys. We will co-create your therapy experience, making it into whatever you need it to be in order to feel as safe as possible. I bring an anti-oppression and decolonization lens to the work of therapy, as this helps to ensure that I do my best to mitigate the harmful impacts of these systemic issues in the healing space. I will certainly make mistakes. I hope you do, too! These are opportunities for both of us to practice collective learning, unlearning, and healing. I believe that therapy is community. We may share certain identities and there will be those we do not share, yet it remains a community. Let's be in joyous community together!
Through virtual therapy, I work with adolescents and young adults who are navigating lifes challenges. I will meet you with a nonjudgemental, accepting, and collaborative perspective to walk alongside you through the hard stuff. I believe you don't have to go through these challenges alone, whether it is anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, social anxiety, family or life changes, or you are exploring your identity or life goals. I will meet you where you are at and we can work through this challenging time together. Some of the modalities of therapy that I use include art therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, parts work with IFS, EMDR, somatic methods (body awareness), and I love to incorporate neuroscience and breath work depending on each person's personal preference. Therapy should be a soft and safe place to land. Together, we’ll focus on your strengths, empowering you to face challenges with confidence and authenticity. I look forward to meeting you- reach out for a free consultation and we can get started!

I enjoy working with young adults/adults who are struggling with anxiety/panic attacks, depression, relationships, life transitions, grief & loss, and substance abuse: individual or family members of ones struggling. Whether you are struggling with perfectionism, emotional overwhelm, can't get over your last relationship, or just don't know if you want to keep going at all...I'm here to help. I struggled mentally throughout my late teens and early twenties; carrying around a lot of shame, self-doubt, and difficulty understanding why it appeared so much easier for everyone else. As a therapist, I am here to listen--not just to your stories, but for the swells of deep feeling that can lead to healing. Together, we will uncover your false beliefs that may be causing unneeded suffering and learn to trust your inner voice as a guide and companion.
Do you ever feel like whatever normal is, it just isn't you? Do you feel like you need to diminish yourself in order to "get along", or like you are always getting in your own way? My passion is to help you tune in to and express the "you" that feels most authentic. I work with teens and adults around issues of ADHD and anxiety, trauma, gender and sexual identity, open relationships/ENM and healthy boundaries, and navigating a changing world. I specialize with recent ADHD diagnoses.
