Are you emotionally exhausted, experiencing unsettling transitions or struggling with feelings of depression, anxiety or grief? Are you coping with toxicity within your relationships or having difficulties adjusting to the demands of academic life? My clients learn to use their suffering as guiding information, identifying imbalances and creating a greater impetus toward life change. I serve those seeking a deeper understanding and mastery of their life journey. We will work to increase intimacy and alignment with the core of your essential, authentic self. The archetypal language taps into the universal motivational patterns inherent in both the individual and collective psyches. Utilizing astrological theory specifically allows us to see pinnacle moments of growth potential evident throughout the life cycle, allowing for more conscious use of our efforts toward self-betterment and greater management of our unique motivational personality structure. With that, this theory underlies the tenets of a meaningful and synchronistic universe which can be collaborated with to co-create a more purposeful life and to help with radical acceptance of the things we cannot change. We may use this approach, along with other interventions, to help identify and integrate the disowned parts of the self which lead to recurrent negative patterns. I also specialize in treating victims of narcissistic abuse as they heal from relational trauma and learn to seek self-validation and challenge co-dependencies, honoring one's own limits and divesting from the toxic dynamics within relationships. I have a Masters Degree in Social Work (2006) and practice as a Telehealth Licensed Clinical Social Worker in CT and PA. I also have certification in Conscious Evolution in Archetypal Cosmology via the Graduate Institute (2011), in Archetypal Astrology and Cosmology via the Institute of Transpersonal and Archetypal Studies (2019) and a Certificate in Applied Archetypal Astrology from Pacifica Graduate Institute (2023). I am a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP) and a Certified Clinical Telemental Health Provider (CTMH).

College is an exciting time, but it can also bring its fair share of stress, uncertainty, and challenges. You might feel anxious about the future, overwhelmed by responsibilities, or unsure of how to navigate the changes happening in your life. These feelings are completely valid, and you don’t have to face them alone. I specialize in somatic approaches to therapy, which help bridge the connection between your mind and body. This work supports you in building a sense of psychological safety from within, leading to greater confidence, emotional regulation, happiness, and self-assurance. Together, we’ll create a space where you feel seen, heard, and supported. In therapy with me, we’ll take the time to explore your unique needs. I’ll bring empathy, patience, and affirmation into our work, and we’ll collaborate on equipping you with tools to achieve your goals. Whether you’re navigating emotional ups and downs, seeking clarity about your future, or simply needing a space to process everything, I’m here to walk with you on this journey. If you’re new to therapy, I understand it can feel like a big step. I’m happy to answer your questions and help you feel comfortable with the process. Reaching out is an act of courage, and I’m here to meet you where you are. Let’s work together to create a path forward that feels right for you.

Thanks for clicking! Feeling like you're not growing? Have you hit a snag or is there a barrier that is keeping you from meeting your goals? I'd love to help! I would like to help you reach the longer-lasting effects that are the consequences of an insight-based and action-oriented approach to counseling. Let's figure out what happened, how it's affecting you, and what we can do together to help you overcome it, learn from it, and grow. My specialty is Gestalt psychotherapy. I use this model to help clients understand how they might be unhelpfully reacting to bad events or people and learn to overcome those reactions so as to become stronger individuals. Digging deep is part of this orientation to therapy, but only at your pace. I will be with you through this and through your growth. I would like to build a positive therapeutic relationship with you so that we can help you meet your goals of increased insight and self-exploration. The process of finding a matching counselor is definitely overwhelming. I look forward to talking and meeting you! Feel free to call me for a free consultation. If you are the person, everyone turns to, who do YOU turn to? You give everything to everyone else but never have time for you. It gets tiring always being the ''strong'' one. I see you. You might be struggling to get through the day or question yourself and your worth. This can look like anxiety, depression, problems recovering from a traumatic experience as an adult or as a child. I want to help you know what you DESERVE. Find the life you want and be more in control of your thoughts, emotions, and choices. Let's look inward and do this difficult but deeply important and rewarding work together. Currently, I can see clients who reside in Pennsylvania, California and North Carolina.

Clinical Social Work/Therapist
Chester Springs, PA

Paul specializes in using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help people work through the pain and suffering that comes along with living a fully human life. The idea is not that you are broken, messed up, and need to be fixed, nor is it about what is wrong with you. The approach taken is more about what has happened to you to bring you to where you are today. The primary focus of using ACT is to find a healthier more workable way to respond to all of the painful thoughts, emotions, memories, and physical sensations we experience as humans, and then channel that pain into building a thriving life that is worthy of who we are. Paul engages in this work from a place of compassion, patience, and unconditional positive regard that sees people as they are and not as their struggles or past mistakes.

Do you feel your life is lacking meaning and fulfillment? Are you feeling unmotivated and low energy, making it difficult to get what you want out of your life? Do you often feel anxious and distracted? These symptoms are common and natural to feel in the fast paced and productivity-driven world that we live in, but this does not have to be our reality. In gaining awareness into our automatic behaviors and thoughts, taking on different perspectives, and some coping skills, we can take back control of our lives. I'm Josh (he/him), and I bring a wide range of skills to the therapeutic relationship. Ranging from non-directive Existential Therapy, to skills based Cognitive Behavioral and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, I am equipped to help you identify where you can make changes in your life. My therapeutic style prioritizes a relational and conversational approach. My therapy personality is described as laid back, accepting, and collaborative. I value working alongside you to discover underlying patterns that may be preventing you from living a more fulfilled life. At Balanced Beginnings LLC, I collaborate with you and aid you in process of becoming whole. Life often presents moments where, for various reasons, we find ourselves entangled in conflicts affecting our mental well-being. In these instances, we are faced with a crucial choice—to either turn towards or away from a deeper understanding of ourselves. I firmly believe that every emotion and symptom serves as a key, unlocking doors through which we journey into the unconscious and shine a light into the darkest parts of ourselves. My approach is grounded in psychodynamic and emotion-focused perspectives, creating a sacred space that welcomes all facets of yourself, both known and unknown. Within this space, we will allow what needs acknowledgment to rise to the surface of consciousness. Together, we will navigate these revelations with compassion and acceptance, fostering what’s needed to integrate all parts of yourself into a more unified whole.

Hi! My name is Josh Foster, I have over 20 years experience in working with college students, helping them through many of the most difficult emotional barriers and roadblocks that we face. I love working with college students! A lot of the work that I do with people centers around trauma that they have experienced. As someone who has been diagnosed with PTSD as a result of trauma suffered by churches and religious people and systems, I have great empathy and understanding for people dealing with trauma. Here's some of how I approach the work I do with people: I’ll get to know you through asking questions. No one story can encapsulate all of who you are, so I’ll listen and show curiosity about you and your life. I will speak hope to you. I believe that hope is essential to keep moving forward as a human being. I also understand how hard it can be to hold onto. We’ll look for repeated themes, ideas, and connections in your stories so that we can find the problem(s) and discover the tactics and strategies that the problems are using to stay in power. We will work to separate you from the problem(s). I honestly believe that you are not the problem but that whatever problem you are struggling with (anxiety, depression, anger) is the problem. We will discover who you aspire to be and develop tools and strategies that can help you to live for longer stretches of time as the best version of yourself. We’ll work to develop tools that you can utilize in between our sessions, and truths for you to hold on to, so that you can have more hope. I’ll help you learn to pay attention to the ways that your body is trying to communicate to you. I find that the people who make the most progress usually do some reflection between sessions.

Anxiety is complicated - its like the house guest that shows up unannounced and doesn't know when to leave. Anxiety can sabotage picture perfect moments and sometimes prevent opportunities from even getting off the ground. Other times, it allows us to recognize when we're in danger and helps us spring into action. How do you know when anxiety is serving you well or setting you up? My clients often seek therapy to manage anxiety because they no longer want anxiety taking them by surprise. They want to manage their anxiety in a healthy way, so that they can enjoy their lives. Together, we work towards creating a game plan that works best for you to achieve anxiety relief. Anxiety can go unnoticed for a long-time, especially in a college setting where high-performance is expected. We will talk about how high-functioning anxiety shows up in your life. Procrastination and avoidance paired with perfectionism is a winning combination for someone to misallocate their energy and efforts and burnout in the process. If this rings true to you, I would be honored to chat with you about I can help you live your life with a little more ease.

My clients come to me with a wide variety of concerns related to anxiety, depression, confusion, low self-esteem, life transitions and adjustments, impulsive behaviors (e.g., substance use, binge eating, self-harm), etc. There is no problem too big or too small, and you are brave for considering therapy. No matter what you are searching for, I believe change is possible and therapy can help. I utilize evidence-based interventions to help my clients build a life that they find more sustainable, meaningful, and enjoyable. I am skilled at helping my clients find balance by challenging them to make necessary changes while also working toward accepting the things that are unchangeable, such as our past. You don't have to know if therapy is right for you just yet, it is ok to be uncertain. I meet my clients where ever they are at in life, and I offer warmth, safety, validation, non-judgement, and a little bit of humor. Reach out and let's see if we would make a good team.
