Trinette, a dedicated Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP), emphasizes collaboration with her patients in treating psychiatric disorders and managing medications. She partners with them, integrating Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and supportive and talk therapy to meet their unique needs. Together, they explore CBT techniques, where Trinette guides patients to identify and reframe distorted thoughts—say, tackling anxiety-driven fears—co-creating strategies that empower them to cope. In MI, she works alongside patients, sparking their motivation to embrace treatment plans, like sticking to meds or therapy for depression, ensuring their voice drives the process. Through supportive talk therapy, Trinette and her patients jointly unpack emotions, building trust as they process challenges like trauma, reinforcing their resilience as a team. In medication management, collaboration shines: Trinette assesses symptoms and histories with patient input, designing psychopharmacological plans together. She explains options—perhaps adjusting an antipsychotic for bipolar disorder—while they monitor effects and tweak dosages as a unit, balancing efficacy and comfort. For instance, a patient with OCD might co-develop a plan blending CBT for obsessions and a serotonin reuptake inhibitor, refining it based on shared feedback. This partnership fosters ownership, as patients feel heard and respected. By merging these therapies with tailored medication, Trinette and her patients collaboratively address mind and body, paving the way for sustainable mental wellness through mutual effort and understanding.
I utilize a person-centered, narrative approach to therapy which means we will focus on helping you explore your remarkable life experiences while building trust through a collaborative dialogue. My approach has been described as warm, validating and filled with curiosity. Throughout our work together, my goal is to foster a non-judgmental space to help you work towards relief and self-understanding. Some clients work with me to explore childhood experiences while others want to focus on more recent challenges. I support people with a wide variety of concerns and am particularly passionate about supporting individuals who are navigating relationship challenges (familial, romantic, platonic), exploring their sexual or gender identities, and traversing stressors related to parenting, school, work, or other obstacles. I am also trained to provide treatment for OCD and ADHD. I strive to work from an antiracist, LGBTQA+ affirming, and Health At Every Size-informed perspective. If it sounds like we would be a good fit, please contact me to set up a free 20-minute consultation.

Are you being challenged by life trials? Do you feel stuck and can't figure out a way out of your situation? Dealing with depression and anxiety? Are you dealing with behavioral issues and mental health of your kiddo? Or dealing with your childhood trauma which triggers you day to day? Having mood swings and anger outbursts? My approach is client-centered, strength based and collaborative problem solving. I teach easy to learn coping skills and activities to boost up self-awareness and self-care in my clients. I believe that the brain can adapt to changes and self-regulate after damage, if you have the right tools and information to deal with it.
I value authenticity, empathy, and self-awareness, both for myself and my clients, and as a critical part of the therapeutic process (I also take advantage of the healing power of laughter whenever possible!). I aim to normalize and validate my clients’ experiences without judgment, and above all, provide the most basic of human needs: to feel seen and heard. My name is Stephanie (Stephanie or Stevie is fine) and I have been providing therapy in NJ exclusively via telehealth for about the last 4 years (prior to that, in person). If you have been struggling with symptoms of depression or anxiety, particularly if they are related to a traumatic experience, I would love the opportunity to work with you to reduce your mood- or anxiety-related symptoms, and to help you to experience a present that is not overshadowed or negatively impacted by situations and events from your past. I love working with women ages 20 to 30-something who are still in academia or just starting out in their careers, but also love working with women of any age. I frequently work with survivors of child sexual abuse, as well as those struggling with issues related to self-esteem/self-worth, but have treated many others as well. While experience and education are an absolute necessity to do this work, I believe that my lived experience has had a profound impact on both my ability to build strong therapeutic relationships and to be a more effective therapist. My ability to connect with clients has only been strengthened by my personal experiences with child sexual abuse, growing up with a parent with serious mental illness, and managing chronic depression since childhood, as well as through supporting loved ones through the complexities of mental illness, suicide, sexual abuse, special needs, chronic illness/pain, estrangement, dissociation, mood disorders, autism spectrum disorder, AD/HD, divorce, parenting, emotional and financial abuse, and coercive control. While I am not generally a "glass half full" person, nor do I necessarily believe that things happen for a reason, I do believe that if you're smart, you'll look for something to learn from the pain and from the healing. Doing so has lead me to this work and I want so much to show you what is on the other side of your pain. My background has also provided me with experiences that can be drawn upon when building relationships with clients. I have had the privilege of having known, grown up with, and cared deeply about people from a variety of backgrounds, races, nationalities, gender identities, sexual orientations, etc. In terms of strengths, I am unfailingly authentic, resilient, intelligent, curious, non-judgmental, and (at least in my personal life) hilarious ;) And by the way, all of those strengths? They were not so much developed as they were uncovered…through therapy. :) Please visit my website for blog and feedback from clients: www.of2mindstherapy.com *My practice is focused primarily on treating adults who identify as female as well as being a welcoming space for members of the LGBTQIA+ community. I do not currently treat cisgender heterosexual males, children or adolescents. I am currently licensed to treat clients in NJ, CT, OR, and WA Please reach out to see if your insurance is accepted. ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS. Are you tired of feeling stuck? Need help to reach your goals? Do you feel broken from trauma? Do you struggle with emotional regulation? Do you experience difficulties as a result of childhood abuse? Do you find it difficult to manage anxiety, depression, anger, or guilt/shame? Asking for help is difficult if not scary at first. I have a relaxed, calming, secure, and soothing environment where we can work together as a team to bring the desired healing you seek. As a Professional Counselor Associate, I will use my skills and voice to help empower my clients with hope. I believe that everyone already possesses the potential to heal and master new skills. Additionally, I have experience working with clients that are also affected by substance abuse. I am active in sessions, offering new perspectives, tools, and ideas to work with. I often bring my therapy dog with me. He can be kenneled upon request. Using an integrated approach, I use best practice models such as trauma-informed cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT), eye movement desensitization reprocessing (EMDR), grounding/mindfulness practices, motivational interviewing, acceptance, and commitment therapy (ACT), psychosomatic therapies, psychoeducation, and internal family systems (IFS).
A solution-focused and strength-based integration of different therapeutic methods based on individual needs. Respectful, accepting, and welcoming of all ages, gender identities, presentations, sexual orientations, races, and belief systems.
Hi! I believe everyone is capable of healing, growth and positive change. I bring compassion, humor and authenticity to our counseling relationship. My work reflects my values and is strengths-focused, trauma-informed, anti-racist, and LGBTQIA-affirming. During our most difficult times, we develop coping strategies that serve us and keep us safe. I work with people to examine which strategies still benefit them and which they want to adjust or let go. People often enter therapy caught in shame or the belief they are somehow broken. We can work together to find skills that benefit you and build on strengths you already possess. My approach is client-centered and integrative and includes techniques from mindfulness-based awareness, CBT, Internal Family Systems, DBT, and EMDR among others. As a cancer survivor, I also bring an intimate and personal awareness of the struggles and growth that can occur through treatment and healing. My work offers a safe and welcoming space for you to explore, grow, and heal. It takes courage and vulnerability to start counseling. Please call or email me if you think I might be able to help. I wish you well on your journey.
It feels like no matter how hard you try, somehow you always end up right back where you started. Plagued by nagging self-doubts that say you aren’t good enough, strong enough, or smart enough, you wonder how anyone could really love you. Fearful that if other people knew the “real” you, they’d turn away. Bending and contorting yourself to be what others think you should be, you end up feeling anxious or depressed most of the time. And then there are those experiences that you don’t talk about. The shame and guilt are too much. Every day feels harder than the last with no end in sight. You don’t have to live that way anymore. I will teach you the skills to identify the thoughts and beliefs that are getting in your way, the steps to change them, and a new way to see yourself and your experiences. I won’t lie, this is hard work. But it will be so much easier than staying stuck. You can do this and I will be by your side supporting you. Now is the time to step into a new chapter in your life. Experience an inner voice that is encouraging and hopeful. Hold yourself with compassion and care. Embrace your authentic self. Feel free, hopeful and happy. Call me today to set up your free consultation. Welcoming diverse backgrounds, ethnicities, sexual orientations and gender identities.
My top goal in therapy is to create a trusted partnership, built on empathy, honest feedback, and adaptive support. I provide a safe space to explore, understand, and work through difficulties. Together we work to expand insight, hone goals, and enact processes that reduce distress and change unwanted patterns. Clinically, I assess wellbeing using Ecological and Biopsychosocial Model perspectives. My work with clients is rooted in Humanistic and Cognitive-Behavioral models, and integrates strategies drawn from other approaches, including ACT, IFS, and MI therapies. However, my approach varies with each person, based on their unique needs, cultural contexts, and current circumstances. I often help clients with concerns related to anxiety, depression, relationships, focus/performance, existence/spirituality, academic/career development, and general well-being. I also frequently provide support for specific concerns, including identity development (cultural/sexual/gender/etc.), processing grief, resolving trauma, and substance use. All of us go through times when we feel overwhelmed or lost, and it's difficult to work through that alone. When looking for a therapist, consider what qualities (e.g., empathy, structure, logic) might help you most at this point. I'm happy to talk with you by phone about what you're looking for, how I work with clients, and any questions you have.
At the core of my being is a genuine and heartfelt desire to help others. I approach clients with unconditional positive regard, creating a space of empathy and safety. As a skilled and compassionate listener, I use my accurate empathic understanding to delve deeply into my clients' subjective experiences. Drawing from a rich array of therapeutic techniques (DBT, Person-Centered Therapy, Self-Acceptance & Self-Compassion, and more) I highly value and appreciate the unique individuality of each client; collaboratively, I work with them to tailor sessions based on their diverse needs. Equipped with a Master's degree in Counseling, I am not only a dedicated practitioner but also hold additional titles of Certified Clinical Trauma Professional, Certified Clinical Anxiety Treatment Professional, and ADHD Clinical Services Provider; I love learning and eagerly look forward to incorporating additional trainings to my counseling repertoire. I enthusiastically believe in the inherent capacity of every individual to flourish in life and am committed to assisting my clients in realizing their potential to triumph over any goal they aspire to achieve.
