To get started, complete a new patient form at www.upwellpsych.com/contact. As a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, I aim to build a treatment plan that is consistent with your goals and values through patient education and shared decision-making. I utilize evidence-based practice to guide my discussion of treatment options. While medication is one of the treatment options that I offer for management of symptoms, I believe that it is only one of the available tools, as behavioral changes, mindfulness, and lifestyle support are vitally important for sustainable well-being.
Do any of these statements sound familiar? You worry too much. You must drag yourself out of bed every morning and often wake up feeling sad for no apparent reason. You have not been able to move past a traumatic experience. Your mind wanders, and you cannot focus on a task. My friend, welcome, you have come to the right place, and we will take good care of you. If you do not want medication, that is fine. We incorporate therapy, functional psychiatry, complementary/alternative treatment in our approach. If this is your first time looking for a therapist, or continuing your journey into self discovery finding someone to connect with may feel like a difficult task. I believe that the most important step in finding success in therapy is connecting with someone who understands you and can hear your perspective and respectfully challenge your thought process. Whether you are someone who comes to this setting thinking, “I don’t even know where to start,” or are coming with a list of tasks to begin working on, I would enjoy getting to know you As a previous director of a college counseling center I have experience working with teens, college age students, and young adults stepping out on their own and trying to discover who they are. My top goal in therapy is to create a trusted partnership, built on empathy, honest feedback, and adaptive support. I provide a safe space to explore, understand, and work through difficulties. Together we work to expand insight, hone goals, and enact processes that reduce distress and change unwanted patterns. Clinically, I assess wellbeing using Ecological and Biopsychosocial Model perspectives. My work with clients is rooted in Humanistic and Cognitive-Behavioral models, and integrates strategies drawn from other approaches, including ACT, IFS, and MI therapies. However, my approach varies with each person, based on their unique needs, cultural contexts, and current circumstances. I often help clients with concerns related to anxiety, depression, relationships, focus/performance, existence/spirituality, academic/career development, and general well-being. I also frequently provide support for specific concerns, including identity development (cultural/sexual/gender/etc.), processing grief, resolving trauma, and substance use. All of us go through times when we feel overwhelmed or lost, and it's difficult to work through that alone. When looking for a therapist, consider what qualities (e.g., empathy, structure, logic) might help you most at this point. I'm happy to talk with you by phone about what you're looking for, how I work with clients, and any questions you have.
My counseling practice integrates holistic mind and body-oriented therapeutic approaches, depth psychology, and client-centered care. I offer you support to move past your blocks, calm your fears, and experience your truest self. My experiential approaches are guided by your values and aims.

ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS. Are you tired of feeling stuck? Need help to reach your goals? Do you feel broken from trauma? Do you struggle with emotional regulation? Do you experience difficulties as a result of childhood abuse? Do you find it difficult to manage anxiety, depression, anger, or guilt/shame? Asking for help is difficult if not scary at first. I have a relaxed, calming, secure, and soothing environment where we can work together as a team to bring the desired healing you seek. As a Professional Counselor Associate, I will use my skills and voice to help empower my clients with hope. I believe that everyone already possesses the potential to heal and master new skills. Additionally, I have experience working with clients that are also affected by substance abuse. I am active in sessions, offering new perspectives, tools, and ideas to work with. I often bring my therapy dog with me. He can be kenneled upon request. Using an integrated approach, I use best practice models such as trauma-informed cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT), eye movement desensitization reprocessing (EMDR), grounding/mindfulness practices, motivational interviewing, acceptance, and commitment therapy (ACT), psychosomatic therapies, psychoeducation, and internal family systems (IFS).
Currently accepting new clients. I offer an affirming space for individuals and couples to explore identity, relationships, and emotional challenges. I'm trained in Internal Family Systems (IFS) and certified in EMDR, integrating both to support healing from trauma, deepen self-understanding, and foster authentic connections. I work with individuals, couples, and families navigating multigenerational trauma, anxiety, identity development, and life transitions. I especially enjoy supporting people as they unlearn old patterns, build healthier relationships, and create lives that feel more aligned and fulfilling. My approach is centered on helping you express yourself openly and without judgment. Whether you're processing trauma, exploring your identity, or seeking healthier relationships, I offer a collaborative, trauma-informed, and LGBTQIA+ affirming space to move toward self-acceptance, resilience, and meaningful change. Starting therapy can feel vulnerable, and reaching out is a brave first step. If any part of this resonates with you, I would be honored to connect and see how I can support you in the ways that matter most.
