Therapists for college students near New York University
College and the years around it can be a lot, academic pressure, anxiety, relationships, identity, and sometimes experiences that are genuinely hard to carry alone. I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who helps students and young adults find steadier ground. I specialize in trauma and have worked directly with college students, including those facing prejudice on campus and communities navigating crisis. My style is warm and judgment-free, and I use evidence-based tools including CBT, DBT, and EMDR alongside trauma-informed care and skills for building safety, so you leave sessions with more than just a place to vent. Telehealth makes it easy to fit therapy around a packed schedule. If you're ready, I'd love to help.
I am a New York State licensed Psychotherapist experienced in working with a broad range of issues including depression, anxiety, loss and grief, LGBTQIA+ issues, family and relationship struggles, identity, complex life transitions, and trauma ranging from the personal to systemic. I am a graduate of Hunter College’s Silberman School of Social Work and completed training in working with Couples and Families through the Ackerman Institute for the Family and advanced post graduate training in Relational Therapy at the Stephen A. Mitchell Center for Relational Studies. I bring warmth, deep listening, honesty, cultural sensitivity and humility, and a spirit of collaboration, authenticity, and humor to my therapeutic work with adolescents, adults, couples, and families. I have worked extensively with adolescents and emergent adults and understand that these junctures typically involve a great deal of growth and change. This can in turn be exciting and wonderful, and also sometimes disorienting and overwhelming. I approach therapy as a collaborative exploration of an individual's lived experiences, the meanings they make out of these experiences, and the relationships they cultivate with self and others in the context of these experiences and meaning-making. In therapy together we slow these conscious and lesser conscious processes down to better understand what might be happening, where people may be stuck in self-limiting narratives or patterns, where resilience, joy, and strength can be recognized, and where growth and change are possible.

Counseling starts with building connections with therapists who recognize the significance of language and culture. I can provide therapy in English and Spanish for those who wish to conduct sessions fully in Spanish. In my therapy work, I take a nonjudgmental approach and allow you to be you. I specialize in helping clients navigate grief and loss, anxiety, depression, perinatal mental health, trauma, and major life transitions. Whatever you're struggling with, I'm not here to save or cure you. What I can offer is support, companionship, guidance, and practical tips as you engage the simple and difficult process of dressing wounds, remembering how to draw in nourishment, and reorienting toward your own ‘true north.’ The long-term goal of this work is not to help you become more 'well-adjusted,' but more fully yourself in a world that often makes that difficult. It may be hard to hear, but that deep-in-your-bones longing really matters. You may have forgotten it, ridiculed it, buried it for any number of very sensible reasons; but I assure you it is waiting patiently for your return. That longing, that certain something that you can't seem to find anywhere? That is yours to grow into. And I would propose that that becoming, that filling in of the larger You, is essential not only to your own sanity, but to the health of all Life. In that spirit I may challenge you to look at the ways that you are evading the responsibility of becoming. But believe me, I evade too. I will regard you with tenderness and understanding even as I ask you to do the terrifying – trust yourself a little more. Fill your form. I hold a master's degree in mindfulness-based transpersonal clinical mental health counseling from Naropa University, and am licensed to practice professional counseling in New York and Colorado.
I am a licensed creative arts therapist specializing in drama therapy and psychodrama. I am here to guide you towards a healthier, more balanced and fulfilling life as an adult. Sessions are held weekly for 45 minutes, during which we may dialogue, use metaphor, or embody action techniques. All forms of creative expression are welcome if you should choose to include them in your treatment.
Going to college allows people to explore themselves, gain knowledge and meet new people. However, sometimes along the way different stressors can pop up that can get in the way of us moving forward on our path. Trying to balance school, relationships, mental health and physical health can be overwhelming. That's why it's important to speak with someone who can provide you with validation, unbiased feedback and resources to help you thrive. I work with people dealing with a variety of issues including time management, stress-reduction, processing trauma, learning coping skills to deal with anxiety/depression, etc. If any of these things are issues for you, then now may be the perfect time to start therapy and get the support you need.
