Therapists for college students near New York University
My therapeutic work tends to resonate with people who have spent a long time thinking their way through distress and are ready for something that goes deeper. I tend to work well with people who are struggling with a persistent sense of loneliness or feeling misunderstood, and who need therapy to be able to hold complex layers of experience. Many are navigating a queer, trans, or neurodivergent experience that doesn't fit easily into any category, struggling with nuanced questions about relationships and sexuality, or bearing the weight of repeated traumas, anxiety, and depression.
Imagine a world where you don’t lie in bed for hours replaying every situation in your head staying up way too late and ruining the next day. Instead, you fall asleep peacefully and can make major decisions without it fully consuming your night, sleep and over all day to day. Inside, there’s a voice that questions your worth, filling you with doubt—but you're ready to rise above it. You're tired of holding back, and deep down, you know you're meant for more—more confidence, more peace, and deeper, more fulfilling connections. I get it! I create a space in which you will feel relaxed while also allowing for you to feel understood. I will not just sit and nod, I will ask you questions, guide you and challenge you. I enjoy blending CBT and psychodynamic perspectives to ensure the most meaningful healing process. You deserve someone who is competent and caring. Let's connect!

I help people feel better and improve their lives with music psychotherapy. If you are suffering from anxiety, depression, addiction or everyday stress with relationships, work or family. If you want a fluid and creative approach to therapy that helps you go deep to the core of your issues, I can help. Much of my practice has centered around understanding the unique complexities surrounding identity development and interpersonal relationships. I work with a wide range of presenting issues such as anxiety, depression, relationship conflict, grief, and trauma. I specialize in relationship distress, life transitions, communication challenges, sexuality and gender related issues, and consensual non-monogamy/polyamory. I believe that transformative therapy begins with a collaborative and trusting therapeutic partnership, one that highlights the unique knowledge, strengths, and skill sets of each client entering the room. Through trauma-informed practice, I aim to facilitate a safe and affirming therapeutic space. I recognize the ways in which institutions, systems, and intersectional identities impact individual experiences and overall wellbeing. My integrated approach to psychotherapy is based upon person-centered, existential, and attachment-based perspectives. I am passionate about exploring the ways in which attachment and trauma impact how an individual’s identity is formed.

An essential feature of this approach is the development of a unique and trusting relationship between client and therapist. You may be entering a new stage in your life, whether it is heading to college and moving out of your childhood home, starting your career, choosing to seek graduate or advanced training, or becoming serious in a committed relationship and starting your own family. You know what you want to achieve, but need additional support in navigating the stresses of setting off on this new path. Or maybe you want help in redefining the roles your family members and loved ones have in your life as you walk towards adulthood in a chaotic world. Maybe you have started your own family and made the decision to become a parent. You may want to parent differently than your parents, but are unsure how. You might be experiencing anxiety around being responsible for a vulnerable new human being. Children can be mirrors, reflecting our own experiences of childhood back onto us. Perhaps past painful experiences of not having your own needs met in childhood are bubbling up and you want to have a safe space to process and explore those experiences. Making lasting change can be difficult for most, and choosing therapy is the first step on the path towards positive growth and change.
Have you been having a harder time lately? Are you experiencing a new life transition, like moving to New York and you’re not as happy as you had hoped? Or possibly you are looking to make a change in your relationships, study habits or daily routine but you’re feeling stuck and unmotivated. Regardless of the specific challenge that has brought you to start therapy, you do not have to go through this experience alone. Therapy can help you accomplish your goals in an environment that is safe and non-judgmental. You will strengthen the skills that you already have and learn new ways of thinking and coping to help you move forward. Therapy may also help you consider past and present relationship patterns to help you increase insight and create meaningful connections. I specialize in working with college aged students. I completed my postdoctoral fellowship at NYU's Counseling and Wellness Services and worked as an adjunct faculty member at Queens College and Molloy College. My style is integrative, which means that I tailor treatment to specifically meet my client's goals through various modalities such as cognitive behavioral (CBT), psychodynamic and mindfulness. I use treatment that is evidence-based and effective. I am collaborative, goal-directed, and open.

Finding the right therapist can be a daunting task — developing a connection with someone is vulnerable and challenging, but it can be well worth it. I am committed to equipping and empowering my clients with the necessary tools to effectively understand and manage their mental health. In my work with teens and adults, my number one priority is creating a comfortable, person-centered, and safely challenging environment where you can move at your own pace and trust that you will be met with understanding, support, and respect. I provide a trauma-informed, empathetic space to explore difficult prior experiences, without rush or judgment. I am especially passionate about anxiety disorders, OCD, trauma, and queer and trans community work. As a proud member of the queer community myself, I understand the importance of LGBTQ+ visibility in the therapeutic space. While I am formally trained in ERP, ACT, and LGBTQ+ centered CBT, I am adaptable in my treatment style and I believe that supporting client needs and fostering the therapeutic relationship is key. In addition to private practice work, I am conducting research identifying predictive factors for people leaving Orthodox Judaism and have presented at conferences on the topic of disaffiliation within Orthodox Judaism. I am currently pursuing my PhD at Adelphi University School of Social Work. My approach to therapy is primarily psychodynamic in nature. In my practice I take the time to listen closely to your needs and tailor our sessions to meet you where you currently are. Through our work together we will move towards greater understanding of your past and its impact on your life today, this depth of work allows for greater self acceptance and more control over the decisions you make in your life. Our sessions will be spent working to increase your self awareness while strengthening your capacity to fully engage with the world. Together we will expand your window of tolerance by unpacking the feelings and thoughts that bring you discomfort, leading to a more authentic and comprehensive experience of yourself.
