Life is stressful. Change and acceptance are difficult & sometimes seem downright impossible. As a psychotherapist my goal is to help you: feel supported; gain confidence; & cope with life's-stressors. Together we will create a flexible treatment plan 'tailor-made' for you. You will gain insight, learn coping skills, feel and become self-empowered. I have over 32 years’ experience helping clients/students suffering from anxiety, depression, loss/grief, & relationship issues. My experience also includes teaching all levels of psychology, supervising therapists, and helping people deal with life's transitions. Remember, our sessions will be 'tailor-made' to meet your wants and needs. And, to help me fulfill my promise to you of 'tailor-made sessions,' I adhere to the following mandate of Carl Gustav Jung: "Know your theories well - then place them on the shelf when in a room with the miracle of a human soul." Problems that we cannot 'solve,' together we WILL 'manage.' Phone call inquiries guarantee a response because I check my voicemail frequently. Emails - not as quickly. Please inquire about my sliding scale fee to meet your financial needs.

My goal is to support individuals in making meaningful, lasting changes that enhance their well-being and help them live more fully in alignment with their values. I am a clinical psychologist and have been in practice for over 20 years. I specialize in working with individuals and couples ages 18 years and older. I address a variety of concerns including anxiety, depression, relationship/family dynamics and trauma, as well as stressors particular to the college and graduate school experience. My Interest in psychology is based in my wish to help people decrease their pain and expand their lives in ways that are important to them. I am described by my patients as a warm person who creates a safe environment through being respectful and sensitive to who you are: your personality, family, developmental and cultural history, other identities and the emotions you are experiencing. Psychodynamic and insight-oriented, I utilize a variety of techniques, especially Internal Family Systems (IFS), a therapeutic approach that is extremely effective for many issues and is known to be especially helpful with trauma recovery. IFS helps individuals, as well as couples, tease apart and learn about conflicting feelings or parts of themselves. Doing so improves one’s ability to feel better, function effectively and heal painful experiences from the recent and distant past. In couples work I also utilize Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), an attachment-based model that helps couples identify difficult cycles of interactions and recognize the needs, hurts and fears that underlie them. Partners emerge from this process feeling more connected with one another in meaningful, supportive and secure ways and are better able to communicate. Research has proven this to be a highly effective form of therapy. I have held positions at several university counseling centers including Fordham University where I was Assistant Director of Counseling and Psychological Services, The Graduate Center in New York City and Princeton University. College and graduate students have always been a significant part of my practice.

Hello I am a Licensed Mental Health counselor who has been in practice for 10 years. I specialize in Eating disorders and trauma and use the Health at Every Size approach to working with eating disorders as well as recognize that trauma is keeping people from the recovery they seek from this condition. I am trained in EMDR and trauma informed stabilization treatment which is a parts model in working with trauma. I work best with clients who have utilized other types of therapy and feel that it is not working for them and also who have been diagnosed with multiple types of disorders. People that I work best with recognize that experiences from childhood are impacting them currently and want to heal from that impact.
College can be an amazing time full of new experiences, but let’s be real—it can also feel stressful and overwhelming. I love working with young adults who are figuring out the ups and downs of campus life. Whether you're dealing with roommate drama, trying to balance work and fun, or adjusting to being more independent, sometimes it helps to talk to someone who gets it and can help you work through the tough stuff. If this sounds like something you’d find helpful, feel free to reach out—I’d love to connect and support you through this exciting but challenging time.
