Sun Counseling and Wellness is a consortium of providers that have many years of experience working with individuals, couples, families, and groups. We are passionate about treating the WHOLE person and helping you achieve a balanced and fulfilling life. We use modern and evidence-based therapeutic techniques and are individualized and creative in our work with clients. My counseling philosophy puts the client in the driver's seat. I firmly believe you are the expert on your own concerns. I believe in the power of a person-centered approach. I believe in collaborating with my clients in order to assist them with understanding their underlying concerns while identifying and utilizing their strengths in order to accomplish their goals. Together, we'll work as a team to clarify your vision for your ideal life. Though you'll be doing the work in your own life, you can feel safe knowing you have a trusted collaborator along the way. My counseling style is warm, creative, and interactive. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. I consider myself an eclectic therapist, drawing from a number of different approaches, based on the presenting concern of the client "in front of me." I borrow heavily from Cognitive Behavioral Theory, which teaches individuals to challenge and change unhelpful cognitive distortions (e.g. thoughts, beliefs, and attitudes) and behaviors, which can leas to improved emotional regulation along with the development of effective and helpful coping strategies to address concerns and whole life wellness. I grew up here in North Carolina, hailing from Fayetteville. I obtained my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Queens University of Charlotte in 2012 where I started out working with at-risk youth in community based mental health. I now have over five years post-grad experience providing individual and group therapy. I continued providing a full range of services that helped individuals of various ages and families overcome addiction and mental health concerns along the way. Since graduating with my Masters of Social Work in 2016 from UNC Charlotte, I have worked primarily with college aged students within university counseling centers. I also enjoy supporting future generations in our mental health field by serving as an adjunct professor at UNC Charlotte since 2021. I enjoy working with tweens (12 and up), teens, young adults (18-24) to adults 24+. I celebrate you for taking the first step in this journey towards change - be it big or small. I will be here to support and empower you along the way! I look forward to working with you. Talk soon!

As social beings, people need the contact and acceptance of other people. It is not uncommon for people to experience things that disrupt or unravel their lives, and they feel they have no one to turn to who understands or accepts them. Whether this experience is anxiety, depression, stress, life changes, or trauma, my passion is to help individuals find healthy ways of coping and processing the events in their lives. As well as helping people connect with others in more meaningful ways. As everyone is different, I feel there is no single therapeutic approach that works for everyone. Because of this, I have sought training in multiple therapeutic modalities such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). My educational background includes an M.Ed. in Mental Health Counseling from Florida Atlantic University. My Clinical internship was spent in a substance abuse/mental health facility in South Florida, where I worked with military and veteran clients. Before my degree, I enlisted in the United States Airforce and was trained as a Medical Technician/EMT.

*TELEHEALTH ONLY* My practice is a safe place for all women and their unique beliefs. Are you exhausted? I'm here to help women who are struggling with life's inevitable ups and downs. Are you navigating modern motherhood, and work-life "balance" (is there EVER really complete balance)? Does making friends feel like a chore? Maybe it's ADHD, anxiety, or postpartum? Is perimenopause knocking at the door? Let's figure it out together. I am kind, but direct in my approach. Please understand that I no longer conduct phone consultations. I believe that the best way to truly decide if we are a good fit working together, is to meet and go from there. My approach to working with clients is that the client is always the expert on their own lives. I see clients from a strengths-based perspective, and help my clients recognize and use those strengths fully. I take an integrative approach to meet your needs. I am a psychodynamic therapist, but I make use of polyvagal theory and mindfulness as well. I know it can be overwhelming to reach out for help when you need it the most. It takes bravery to take this next step. Be proud of yourself for being here right now. I typically respond within two business days. Check your spam folder to be sure you didn't miss it. Please note that I ONLY work with WOMEN in my practice and ONLY via telehealth at this time.

You are enough. Creating or adjusting relationships can be based on authentic self-expression, free from fear of negative judgment. Support offered addresses assertiveness/conflict resolution skills, college student adjustment to adulthood, major life or career decisions, self-esteem, mood irritability, and unresolved childhood trauma. You can expect a welcoming atmosphere to address these and similar concerns, and feedback to develop coping skills and identify resources to progress in your stated mental health goals. I work with adults online individually and in person for groups. I specialize in the use of EMDR, Somatic Psychotherapy, DBT, CBT, and or Solution Focused Brief Therapy for the unique needs of each client to address posttraumatic stress, life transitions, relationship issues, and anxiety symptoms that interfere with completing responsibilities or interests. You’ve made it this far in reaching out for support. My hope for you is to experience the lasting changes you desire in life. Let’s journey together in your next steps to be well. I am an associate Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor who sees teens and young adults adults facing a variety of challenges like anxiety, ADHD, depression, relationship issues, life changes and interpersonal conflict. My passion is working with student athletes. As a high school and travel softball coach of several years, I am uniquely qualified in helping young individuals develop mental health skills they can carry with them throughout life, both on and off the field/court. I see the concerns and needs of teens to be unique and require a different approach than one I may take with adults. Overall, I find it important to see individuals for all that they are, helping them to create their identity and see the value within themselves as a person and not just in what they do or how they perform. All people, but especially young people, want to feel heard and seen. I prioritize authenticity and relationship with clients - working to create a comfortable space of trust, understanding, and growth.

If you feel like you’re feeling the pressure of what’s next, stop scrolling because trust…you’re in the right place. College is supposed to be an exciting experience but for a lot of students, it feels like: • “I’m behind.” • “Everyone else has it figured out.” • “I’m stressed all the time.” • “I don’t even know what I’m doing here.” If that’s you, I can assure that you’re not broken. You have reached your emotional capacity, feel overwhelmed, and you don’t have to carry that alone. At ThrivePath, we help students slow down, feel safer in their own bodies and minds, and learn how to move through life from alignment, not survival mode. This is therapy and support that feels: ✨ supportive ✨ honest ✨ culturally-aware ✨ and actually helpful No “fix yourself” energy here. At ThrivePath, our energy reads more like “let’s figure this out together.”

I am the Adultingcounselor! Let me help you figure out this thing called "Life". Going through a battle on your own is the norm (for some of us) but are “you” ready to change that narrative and create the life you deserve and desire. As you are adulting, we face hardships, both big and small. I believe that being an adult doesn’t stop you from being trapped/stuck in situations that are sometimes hard to face or get out of. Unfortunately, if these issues aren’t addressed, they can and will control our lives. When you change your thoughts, you change your life! We will discover your concerns about your purpose, both personally and professionally. Exploring and identifying your true self and meaning in life. Let me help you understand and manage unresolved issues, such as stress, burnout, financial stress, loss of sense of self, and more. Helping adults (18-30) navigate through counseling successfully, learn skills, and accomplish the life they want to live is my passion. We can’t stop how life happens, but we can change how we view it. If this is you, a family member, or someone you know. Let's get started today!
