Therapists for college students near Cambridge, MA
My name is Rebecca Razumny, and I’m both a licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) in Massachusetts. I specialize in working with adolescent girls and adult women diagnosed with ADHD and/or Autism Spectrum Disorder—particularly those who have spent years masking, struggling with executive functioning, and navigating chronic emotional overwhelm. I launched my virtual private practice in 2022 and currently offer both individual and group counseling through telehealth. My therapeutic approach blends clinical insight, neurodivergent-affirming care, and behavior science. I work extensively with women who are coming to terms with a recent diagnosis, burnout from masking, academic anxiety, and difficulties with social-emotional regulation. My goal is to support my clients in reconnecting with their authentic identity and building sustainable strategies for success. I’m currently accepting new clients and offer a free 15-minute consultation to ensure a strong clinical fit. I accept most major insurance plans as well as private pay.

I'm passionate about working with college students, especially international students, students of color, and first-generation students. These students are often interested in exploring their identities and navigating life transitions. They may also be looking for support with academic stress and how to live according to their values. I have previous experience working in a college counseling setting, and I'm eager to connect with students who are seeking support. I am psychodynamically trained and have focused much of my learning and clinical practice within a social justice framework. Before moving to the US, I lived and studied in China, Hong Kong, and Singapore. Therefore, both Eastern and Western philosophies and values influence and inform my perspectives and the integrative approaches that I bring to my work.

I believe in the restorative power of hope. Over the course of my career I have been able to support clients to internalize the belief that they can make change in their lives. From focusing on eliminating inner negative chatter to processing an acute trauma, I strive to create opportunities for the achievement of one's goals. Through partnership, trust and the sharing of knowledge, real movement can occur. There is hope. Licensed as both a mental health and addictions specialist counselor, I work with both individuals and couples. I practice remotely in Colorado and Rhode Island. I completed my Master of Arts and Master of Education in Psychological Counseling at Teachers College, Columbia University. My deep professional satisfaction is grounded in the experience of growth and recovery that clients obtain through our efforts. As a therapist, I partner with you to make sense of your story. Through this work, we often discover together that what’s happening for you in the present makes perfect sense given what you’ve lived through so far and the forces that have shaped you. With this understanding, you can more easily access softness toward yourself and others, and even find other ways of being. I primarily practice from relational psychodynamic and trauma perspectives, drawing from neurodevelopmental, family systems, and body-based frames as appropriate. As a social worker, I am attuned to the ways that systems of power and oppression contribute to experiences of mental health.
We know that searching for a therapist can be one of the most difficult parts of coping, healing, and self-empowerment, because it's the first thing you must do. You must force yourself out of your comfort zone and out of whatever routine you've had before, to take the initiative and embark on a new path. When we're at our best, stepping out of our comfort zones can be daunting; when we're feeling vulnerable, it can seem nearly impossible. No matter what prompted you to take this first step, we'd like to be there for your second. Our clinicians focus on creating an empathic environment where you feel safe and relaxed, and where we can use every tool available to brighten your present and empower your future.
What could you navigate in a safe space? I will use a warm, compassionate approach as we explore what you might be seeking. Perhaps you long for fulfillment or a clarified sense of purpose. Maybe you feel stuck in patterns that don't serve you. Perhaps you are sad or anxious, grappling with a relationship, or coping with a loss. I believe sorting out your thoughts and feelings together can yield a more enjoyable life. My background is concentrated in medicine and mental health, with a particular attention to the mind-body connection. I tend to work with a lot of college students and enjoy assisting clients with life transitions and identity exploration. My specialties include LGBTQ, gender, life transitions, disabilities, and career options. I earned a BA in psychology and an MSW in social work from Tulane University. I am licensed in Louisiana, MA, and New York. I look forward to hearing from you and beginning our work together.
