Therapists for college students near Boston College
I am a Licensed Independent Social Worker (LICSW) in the state of Massachusetts. I am certified in Integrative Mental Health (CIMHP), DBT, CBT, and Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR). I specialize in anxiety, trauma/PTSD, life coaching, school and career planning, prenatal and postpartum care, chronic illness and pain, as well as family challenges. I create an open relaxed environment, and my communication style is focused and direct. The client directs the session with what they feel is the most important issue to discuss and I gently guide them with a solution-focused approach.
Many of us experience stress and anxiety on a daily basis. While sometimes we feel in control of these emotions, other times it can feel like they are controlling us. Whether you are dealing with day-to-day stressors, or those brought on by major life transitions, learning how to identify and manage the feelings you experience can be vital to having happy, healthy relationships with others and with yourself. It’s my belief that each individual is the expert on themselves. My role in sessions is to be curious and work with you to explore challenges, experiences, and emotions. Through this exploration we can create a “tool box” of skills and strategies that work best for you. I encourage you to reach out if you are interested in starting services. Finding a therapist who is right for you is important, and I am more than happy to answer any questions you may have!
You’re thoughtful, capable, and often the one others rely on—but inside, you may feel overwhelmed, anxious, or emotionally drained. Many of my clients struggle with overgiving, difficulty setting boundaries, relationship stress, or burnout. I help you understand your patterns, strengthen your voice, and build healthier, more balanced relationships so you can feel grounded, respected, and more like yourself again. I specialize in helping high-functioning adults navigate anxiety, trauma, and relationship challenges. Using a trauma-informed, integrative approach (CBT, DBT, EMDR), I support you in setting boundaries, regulating emotions, and creating healthier patterns in your life and relationships. You don’t have to carry everything on your own. If you’re ready to feel more supported, clear, and emotionally grounded, therapy can help you move forward with confidence and intention. I’d be honored to support you in this next chapter. My mission is to help people heal, grow and thrive - so they can achieve their goals and improve their lives. College can be overwhelming. It can be filled with anxiety, stress, loneliness and other tough encounters. Whether you are navigating a new relationship, juggling course work and social life or having trouble simply adjusting, therapy can help! I have worked with a number of college students and have supported them with issues including, body image concerns, perfectionism, student-athlete struggles, depression, anxiety, childhood trauma, transitioning from college to the "real word" OCD and relationship issues. You don't have to navigate this chapter of your life alone. I am here for you! I am licensed in MA, PA, NJ and TX and work with you via tele-health if you are from any of the above states.
Your present need not be your future! Life isn’t always easy. Today you may be anxious, depressed, stuck, overwhelmed, flunking out, and/or obsessed. Tomorrow can be different. The path to a better future may involve courageously exploring emotions or it may involve learning and practicing new habits or strategies. Sometimes little changes cause dramatic results. My specialty is working with you to determine what will work best for you. To this task I bring great depth and breadth of experience. I was actually a college dropout before I became a Clinical Psychologist and Neuropsychologist after first becoming an Educational & Career Counselor & then applying my knowledge & skills on myself. I’ve been in private practice as a therapist for over 30 years, have consulted to hospitals for decades as a Clinical Neuropsychologist, taught the graduate course Neuropsychology to psychology doctoral students for 18 years, created the graduate course Nutrition, Brain and Behavior, provided lectures on neuropsychology for medical students and residents through Harvard Medical School’s Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital and created many continuing education courses for psychologists and lectured college counselors nationwide on improving college performance. I’ve done thousands of assessments encompassing ADHD, learning disability, autism, memory disorders, executive dysfunction, anxiety disorders and depression, yet, despite this I do not think in terms of these labels. Most sessions begin with screening not to assign a diagnosis but determination of the type of psychotherapy or lifestyle changes with which you are likely to feel most comfortable. Take the first step towards a better tomorrow.

As you preparing for or continuing your college journey, it is a time of major transition whether you are moving away from family and friends, attempting a long distance relationship, navigating academics and independence, grappling with identity questions, and relationship challenges, I am here to support you and help you reach your goals.
I offer therapy for adults, adolescents and children and specialize in concerns commonly experienced in college aged clients like: Depression and Anxiety, Eating Disorders, Obsessive Compulsive Disorders and Social Anxiety Disorder. The transition into college and the transition into life after college are among the more exciting and stressful times in anyone's life. Therapy offers a safe place to process and explore complex and often overwhelming feelings that are a normal part of navigating change in areas of life like relationships, careers and financial stress, self care, boundaries and coping with the increasing uncertainty that comes with young adulthood. I work collaboratively and actively from a strengths based, developmental perspective that meets you where you are without judgement and with hope. I am available to meet in person in my office or over secure, confidential video sessions and hold multiple state licenses which allows me to work with students not located in MA.
Welcome to sfpsychiatric services. I look forward to working with college students with various backgrounds and issues. My training and experience provides me with an expertise working with this age group. It is truly a pleasure working with this population. This developmental phase brings many challenges as well as rewards as students enter into young adulthood. Having a trusted person to explore and process the adjustment is invaluable. Each person is unique and I treat everyone as an individual which guides my clinical decisions. I have over 25 years of experience working with people from a childhood to adulthood. I provide medication management and psycho-therapy as needed to students in Connecticut and Massachusetts. I take pride in my non-judgmental style, my ability to connect well with others, and most importantly competence and integrity.

Anxiety and obsessive-compulsive disorders ARE treatable. I am passionate about helping individuals navigate life transitions when fear, panic, and OCD interfere with daily functioning and longer-term progress. With compassion and experience, I aim to empower you to overcome obstacles, develop resilience, and achieve emotional well-being. I use evidence-based treatments of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure with Response Prevention (ERP), as well as Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) to help you experience symptom relief and work toward future goals. I have a particular interest in women’s mental health, recognizing the immense physical and emotional challenges that accompany pregnancy, motherhood, and menopause. Having raised three children of my own (ages 17, 21, and 23), I have developed a mature perspective on problem-solving and empowering other women toward strength and adaptability. I offer support to parents around parenthood, raising young children and teenagers, and approaching and managing “empty” nests. I also have experience working with children and adolescents struggling with acute anxiety. I hold an undergraduate degree from Cornell University and am pursuing my Master’s degree in Social Work at Boston College. I am committed to making a positive difference in the lives of those around me and have a long-standing dedication to community and volunteer work.
