Therapists for college students near Boston College
I am accepting new clients! I believe in the power of therapy to help people connect with inner wisdom, explore and build upon strengths, and process difficulties in a supportive and non-judgmental space. I view the therapeutic relationship as being fundamental to growth and change, as it lays the groundwork for you to work through vulnerable feelings and explore relational patterns. I try to foster this relationship by connecting on a human level and providing an atmosphere of care, acceptance, openness, curiosity, and humility. While I tend not to give advice, I may share new perspectives, offer tools for change, or help you draw connections between current patterns and past experiences. I deeply respect your decision to seek therapy and look forward to getting to know you.
People often find themselves looking for a therapist when their suffering becomes overwhelming or when their lives shift in a way that is difficult to adjust to. We can work together to help you get through stuck places and develop creative solutions that work for you. My approach is collaborative, warm and empathic, and my priority is to support you in connecting with people, ideas, and resources that will support your efforts to live a satisfying and meaningful life.

The years surrounding college --young adulthood--is a time filled with amazing exploration as well as stress, sadness, and a lot of unknowns. We really begin to learn not just about who we have been to others, but about who we can become. Working with a therapist can offer a way to explore some of these feelings and experiences with someone who has first hand understanding of being a youg adult (we all were at one time!), who wants to get to know who you are becoming and help you find a way to get there with a sense of power and voice. Life can be awesome but it can also be scary and hard sometimes and no-one has to do this alone!
My approach to therapy is individualized, compassionate, and integrative. My clients are looking to improve their relationships, develop insight into their own behaviors, or be the best students and people they can be. I take a collaborative approach with my clients as we walk together on their journey to create positive change in their lives.
I specialize in relationship trauma, particularly recovery from coercively controlling relationships and cultic group. My clients are often gentle souls, have been called "too sensitive" and can find this world hard to navigate. Sometimes sensitivity & thoughtfulness are treated like pathologies. If you're empathic and contemplative, not only is there nothing wrong with you, we need more of you! As an Expressive Arts Therapist, my mission: is to empower clients through authentic self-expression, conversation and artistic modalities. Build your confidence and claim your life by embracing authentic identity and pursuing your true potential. I believe a combination of compassion and the arts provide a uniquely personal & powerful vehicle through which anyone can heal emotional, psychological, or cognitive suffering.

My approach to therapy is collaborative and flexible. I most often utilize cognitive behavioral tools and a strength-based approach in my work. I try to provide a warm and engaging environment that will meet you where you are, while also knowing that sometimes we all need to be challenged in order to grow. It can be hard and intimidating to take the next step in your mental health journey, but you deserve to feel better and I would like to see if I can help you do that. I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker with a M.S.W from University of California, Berkeley School of Social Work, and a BA from Connecticut College. I have a background working in various settings with children, young adults, and families in the child welfare system in CA, in various hospital social work settings here in Boston, and in college mental health. In my therapy work, I employ a strengths-based approach and work to help patients recognize and build upon their own existing strengths, supports, coping skills, and resilience in order to manage during challenging times. Outside of work, I enjoy hiking, cooking, and chasing after my dog. Pronouns: She, her, hers. I work especially well with individuals who are accessing therapy for the first time and need a safe space to learn about the process. I am certified in EMDR and can be helpful to those looking to explore past trauma and its impact on their current functioning.

Starting treatment with a new mental health provider can be daunting: it involves opening up with the hope that you'll learn and grow from the experience. I have tremendous respect and admiration for my patients, as they work through challenging emotions, histories, and conflicts. At times, certain thought patterns, self-perceptions, traumatic experiences, or communication struggles can keep people from thriving and building the kind of career, relationship, or personal well-being they crave. It takes courage to work on these issues, and it is a real privilege to get to help people on their journey. I am a Harvard-trained, board-certified psychiatrist providing psychotherapy and medication management to adults in Massachusetts through telehealth. Growing up in an immigrant family and having worked in multiple clinics internationally, I highly value providing culturally competent care. It is very important to me that my patients feel seen and heard. I use a collaborative, holistic approach to care, in which I work alongside clients to define and set goals. I am transparent about the extent of what is and isn't well-known in psychiatry with the goal of helping people make informed decisions that they feel comfortable implementing. If this approach sounds like a good fit for you, please reach out!
