Catherine (She/her) As a school social worker for 27 years, I worked with students PreK-12th grade and their families in school and the community. The last 10 years I focused more on the HS level with more personal issues that were affecting students' ability to focus on their classes. I got a reputation as someone who kept their secrets and helped them sort out who they are, esp. around issues of gender disphoria, sexual identity, and depression that frequently accompanies the struggle of self acceptance and showing ones' authentic self to others. College is a tough time for many people. If you think I can help you with this transition, please set up a video conference today. It's as confidential and encrypted as I'm capable to do.

The typical challenges people face are embedded in fear of rejection, loneliness and disconnection - not feeling likable and lovable. Meaningful living can be achieved by acknowledging this fear and acting intentionally to create love, authenticity, and congruence. I believe effective counseling is grounded in a trusting and affirming working alliance. I work from an interpersonal perspective, meaning our professional relationship is the key to a positive and productive experience. Grounding my training in Existential-Humanistic theory, I seek to support your effort to find personal meaning and self-understanding, to explore your lived experience and discover the most genuine you. I offer support to achieve insight and the tools to cultivate purposeful transformation, enabling you to live a meaningful life in the face of uncertainty and potential suffering. We all take turns with suffering; we all take turns with joy. You can feel accomplished and connected; I can help.

I’m a licensed counselor with a passion for helping individuals navigate life’s challenges and discover their strengths. I specialize in working with clients dealing with depression, anxiety, and relationship issues, and I bring a compassionate, collaborative approach to the therapy process. In addition to my general practice, I have extensive experience supporting college students as they work through academic pressures, identity exploration, transitions, and personal growth. Do you have a loud inner critic? Are you feeling worn out by trying to manage it all? Are the ways that you're coping not working as well as they used to work? Maybe you’re exhausted by the fear that your best will never be enough. Maybe you doubt that what you’re doing is good enough, even when other people praise your efforts. You have high standards that continue to rise with each success and accomplishment. You have a hard time relaxing and feel guilty when you do. Along the way, trying to be the best student/friend/child/employee/etc has become overwhelming. Meeting the weight of those expectations has become unmanageable. If you're feeling this way, therapy can help. Together, we can help you access your own inner calm and confidence. We can relieve inner critical parts of the burdens that are contributing to your exhaustion, anxiety and stress.

As you prepare to address problem areas in your life, finding the right person to work with to help and support you as you move forward toward your goals, is the first step. My therapy practice focuses primarily on children, families and young adults. I believe that better communication and understanding can be key in building better relationships. Typical sessions involve the basics of support, and building on the existing strengths of a person as well as developing better techniques in managing difficult emotional problems. Psychoeducation, which involves helping to understand the mental health symptoms that are being presented and learning how to manage them, as well as skills to build deficits with anger control, social interactions and stress relief, are also taught. Working together on ways to decrease difficult symptoms, such as clients providing better self care skills, building strong coping skills and having improved perspectives is essential to a healthier well being. My role as your therapist is that through the supportive and close therapeutic relationship, you will gain insight and motivation to work toward change. I am currently licensed in NC, GA and am a Certified Telehealth Practitioner in Florida. I am only able to see clients virtually in FL and NC.

I enjoy helping others reach their goals using a personable, down-to-earth, and collaborative approach. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing clients succeed in reaching or exceeding their goals. My specialties include stress, anxiety, relationships, motivation, focus, and confidence/assertiveness. Holistic in scope, my approach takes into consideration the many facets of you as an individual, including one's physical health, interpersonal relationships, and spirituality (if desired). Having taught mindfulness now for over 20 years, I enjoy incorporating these skills, helping my clients to be more present and relaxed daily. I work collaboratively with clients helping them to skillfully move toward the change they are seeking and ultimately gain more personal freedom and resiliency in the face of life’s varied challenges. In addition to being a therapist, I am a Certified Integrative Mental Health Professional. This helps me to educate my clients on how diet, exercise, and lifestyle affect mental health. Many of the students I work with are navigating intense pressure academically, socially, and internally. You might be experiencing anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, or difficulty managing stress. You may also be carrying unresolved trauma or struggling with identity, grief, or emotional regulation. Therapy offers a structured, supportive space to explore what’s contributing to these patterns and begin building healthier ways of coping. My approach integrates evidence-based treatments like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and trauma-informed care. We’ll focus on helping you better understand your thoughts and emotions, strengthen your coping skills, and create lasting change that supports your well-being. You don’t need to have everything figured out to begin. Therapy can be the starting point for greater clarity, connection, and self-trust.

Two decades ago, I sat where you are now—uncertain but hopeful. Today, as a licensed therapist in Georgia, I use both my personal and professional experience to help you navigate your way forward. In fact, I still see the professional who first helped me start my journey—a testament to my belief in the power of having someone in your corner. If you are curious, I encourage you to take a chance on yourself. There is no commitment—you are entirely in the driver’s seat—just a safe space to see what is possible. I built my practice to be a soft landing spot for women and LGBTQ+ individuals navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, and complex family dynamics. If this sounds like you, you are in the right place. Over the past decade of working one-on-one with clients, I have developed signature healing groups—such as Transcending Trauma, Just Between Us Girls, and Adulting After Dysfunky—because I deeply believe that we heal the same way we are hurt: in relationship. Beyond our sessions, I am committed to your growth. I actively maintain an extensive, curated resource network of books, podcasts, articles, clinical handouts, and trusted specialists who uniquely understand the needs of trauma survivors. You don't have to do it "right." You just have to show up. View my real-time openings and instantly schedule an appointment or request a free and confidential consultation on my website: manycolorscounseling.com.

Life can often feel messy and chaotic. My passion is to help bring order out of chaos to facilitate growth and peace. Many of my clients present with concerns related to anxiety, depression, relationship issues, stressful life transitions and circumstances, or they report feeling a little “off” and are seeking help to feel more like themselves again. I work best with clients who are engaged and motivated to see changes in their lives, and I have a great love for coming alongside people to help them move towards becoming the best version of themselves. My goal is shalom, the Hebrew word for peace, wholeness and universal flourishing. Operating from a strengths-based perspective, I work to create a safe environment and partner with clients to help empower and equip them to face life’s challenges, while creating meaning for themselves along the way. If you’re feeling stuck and are looking for a way to help jumpstart your life, I am just a quick message or brief consultation away!
