Therapists for college students near Atlanta, GA
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and I have a Doctorate of Science in Holistic Nutrition. I have been in private practice for over 10 years and have 25 years in the field. I specialize in addiction, trauma, anxiety, depression, OCD, trichotillomania, and ADHD. I use all different kinds of therapy: talk therapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Brainspotting, Mindfulness, Tapping, and more. And, because I have a degree in nutrition, I can offer an holistic approach to you. I love working with college students! I work in person or remotely.
As a therapist, I work with depression, anxiety, addiction, trauma, grief, relationship challenges, and significant life transitions. Having particular insight into dysfunctional family systems, I offer compassionate support for those navigating complex family-of-origin experiences. At the heart of my practice is the belief that everyone possesses the capacity to heal and grow. I create a therapeutic environment characterized by compassion and curiosity, providing a safe space for clients to explore experiences, discover strengths, and move toward meaningful change. I specialize in working with clients who want to heal from the experience of growing up in addicted or dysfunctional family systems. By examining childhood trauma and generational patterns, we will work to foster the emotional growth, improved relationships, and freedom from codependency that emerge when we rediscover our authentic selves and live in alignment with our personal integrity. I also worked in student affairs/higher education administration for 13 years and have extensive experience supporting young adults through the various challenges of adjusting to, navigating, and transitioning to life after college and graduate school.
You feel the pressure to be in control all the time…with food, relationships, your job, your appearance. You may be fed up with melting down over a picture of yourself, feeling like you can’t stop thinking about food no matter what you do, or feeling hopeless that things will ever get better. You might not even remember a time things didn’t feel this way. But one thing is for sure: you’re ready for some relief. You’re ready to go clothes shopping without fear. You’re ready to start spending time with friends again. Most of all, you’re ready to feel fulfilled and have the life you want. Clients come to me looking for a therapist who “gets” it, because therapy should be a place where you feel safe and supported to explore the roots of your relationship with food and body. Sessions with me are interactive and collaborative, and we always go at your pace, never pushing to a place you don’t feel ready to be. As an experienced eating disorder therapist, I believe that all women deserve to have permission (from themselves) to live full and empowered lives. You don’t have to keep feeling like a failure because your body has changed, and you don’t have to do it alone. Reach out today for a free 15-minute consultation. I can’t wait to hear from you.
College can ask a great deal of you, whether you are adjusting to undergraduate life, navigating the demands of graduate school, balancing school with work or family responsibilities, or trying to determine what comes next. You may look capable on the outside while privately feeling anxious, overwhelmed, disconnected, or exhausted. The strategies that once helped you succeed may no longer feel like enough. At Aspen Grove Counseling and Wellness, our therapists support college and graduate students navigating academic pressure, anxiety, depression, perfectionism, relationship concerns, identity questions, family expectations, burnout, and significant life transitions. Therapy offers a space to slow down, understand what you are carrying, and find ways of moving forward that feel more sustainable and more connected to who you are. You do not have to wait until things become unmanageable to seek support. We invite you to reach out, and we will help connect you with a therapist whose experience and approach may be a good fit for you.
My goal as a therapist is to create room for reflection, healing, and building coping skills so you can embrace the vibrant life you want. I want to foster a sense of peace in the midst of struggle and instill hope that things can get better. My hopes for you during the counseling process are that you feel heard and seen, begin to see things in a new way, get moving where you feel stuck, and discover strengths you didn’t know you had. I especially love working with college students as they navigate life and career transitions, balance their academic and social commitments, and develop their unique identity. If you feel that we would be a good fit, please feel free to contact me at Joy@eastatlantacounseling.com or (404) 491-0449. Joy is supervised by Cat Moon, LCSW.
Who would you be if you believed you actually could? If you knew you already are? My approach to therapy centers on the belief that “healing is making whole.” Whether dealing with issues of addiction, depression and anxiety, self-knowledge and self-worth, sexual orientation and gender identity, trauma or relationship concerns, life transitions attention is, therefore, given to the whole of the individual – heart, mind, body and soul. So many of us feel stuck, repeating patterns of behavior we consciously experience a desire to let go of. What keeps us doing what we believe we don’t want to do is that we are disconnected from the places within us where our actions come from. In my work with clients I care most about helping others uncover their truth – without judgment. I see psychotherapy as an invitation and permission to reveal, explore and practice embodying the wholeness of who we are, in order to develop a greater sense of fullness, choice and empowerment in our lives. And I very much see psychotherapy as a partnership and a journey, one which I am repeatedly humbled and grateful to be allowed to accompany others on. In addition, as a certified yoga instructor, the teachings of classical yoga inform my psychotherapy work with both individuals and couples. Yoga ‘on the mat’ may be a possible element of our work for interested clients, but more often this takes the form of our exploring how to live and practice the principles of yoga ‘off the mat.’
Hi! I'm a therapist licensed in Georgia and North Carolina. I help people who are feeling stressed and overwhelmed to better cope with challenges, change patterns of behavior that aren’t working, improve relationships with friends and family, and increase an overall sense of well being. By providing a safe, supportive, nonjudgmental, and welcoming space, I help you explore how social, political, economic, and cultural factors impact your health and wellbeing. My approach is compassionate, culturally-responsive, and identity-affirming, with a social justice perspective. Both my life and work experiences have shaped my work as a therapist. My life experience includes growing up as a child of Taiwanese immigrants, living in Europe as an adult, and advocating for social justice. My work experience includes providing counseling at Duke University Medical Center, Elon University Counseling Center, and multiple therapy agencies. In therapy sessions, I use various evidence-based treatments to help you work towards your personalized goals. You can learn ways to cope with stress, how to not let your emotions overwhelm you, and how to skillfully ask for what you need in your relationships. Sessions are offered online via a secure format. Before beginning therapy with any new client, I offer a free 15-minute consultation to answer any questions and to see if we are a good match to work well together.

Do you find yourself constantly wondering if you measure up? Have passing thoughts that if people knew the real you they wouldn't hire you, be your friend, respect or admire you? Holding yourself to a high standard provides some amazing benefits AND it can really hold you back if it's an all-or-nothing situation. When your worth and value are on the line in every interaction, you live in a constant state of anxiety and have a hard time resting or enjoying your down time. When I was in my twenties, I was anxious and depressed but I never would've used those labels at the time. My life was great on paper – I thought I was happy because I thought should be happy. Then, in the moments when I noticed that I wasn’t feeling great, I beat myself up for not being positive and upbeat or grateful enough for everything I had. I thought that just feeling kinda sad and worried most of the time was normal and inevitable. The truth is, it is pretty normal, but it's not inevitable. In fact, part of what drives me to help people is that the level of unease I felt seems so common. I strongly suspect that there are people suffering needlessly who don't know that there are ways to feel better. One thing to know up front: working with me is weird! My clients who've been to therapy before or seen it on TV are often surprised by a few things about my practice. There's homework, and we'll both be writing things down in sessions. We won't just talk about the things you think and feel, we'll work together to change them for the better.
At Ash Tree we have therapists that utilize a trauma informed and strengths based approach to meet the needs of our clients. We have therapists that specialize in working with complex trauma and PTSD, anxiety, ADHD, and other life transitions.
We all deserve the space to be seen and heard. I'm a genuine therapist who will meet you where you are and work with you on your unique path to self-discovery. I'm a therapist who is already your advocate because I deeply believe you deserve to be treated with dignity and respect no matter who you are. In the counseling room, you'll find me to be genuine, creative, and laid back. Cup of coffee in hand, I'm here to journey alongside you! Online sessions also available.
Hi, I’m Maureen (she/her), and I’m an experienced therapist who helps young adults navigate trauma, family relationships, and the stress of major life transitions. Many of my clients are managing ADHD, shifting family roles, or recovering from emotionally unsafe or narcissistic parents. I often see folks who appear successful on the outside but are struggling inside. I advocate for people who are starting something new and scary or leaving behind something painful. I also worked in a college counseling center for 9 years, so I've got lots of experience with what students are coming in with. Whatever it is you are looking to unload, I offer a warm and validating space to explore what you’ve been carrying.

Have you had life changes that have been difficult to accept? Do you question if your anxiety will always impact your life? You’re not alone. While it can feel isolating, you’re not the only one experiencing anxiety and uncertainty. And, things can get better. I believe that anxiety doesn’t have to control your life or change your dreams. In therapy, I like to help clients learn healthy coping skills to decrease panic attacks and the impact of anxiety. Anxiety is taking up more space in your life than you’d like. On the outside, things look successful—people rely on you, and you generally handle what’s in front of you. But internally, it can feel very different. Your mind replays conversations late at night. You hold yourself to impossibly high standards. That critical inner voice is quick to point out what you should have done better. Even when you accomplish something meaningful, it rarely feels like enough. You may be someone who was labeled “gifted” or high-achieving early on. You’re thoughtful, capable, and used to performing well under pressure. Yet the constant drive to get it right can leave you exhausted. You might notice tension in your body that never quite goes away, difficulty truly relaxing, or moments when your reactions feel stronger than they should. You understand your patterns—you may have even done therapy before—but insight alone hasn’t fully created the change you’re looking for. In our work together, we move beyond simply talking about the problem. I integrate EMDR and somatic-informed approaches to help your nervous system process experiences that may still be driving anxiety, perfectionism, or emotional intensity beneath the surface. When the body has a chance to settle, the mind often follows. Therapy becomes less about “figuring it out” and more about creating meaningful, embodied change. Our sessions are collaborative, focused, and respectful of your time and intelligence. I provide a calm, professional space where you can slow down without losing momentum. Together, we clarify what matters most to you and work toward a life that feels grounded, balanced, and genuinely fulfilling—not just successful on paper. If you’re ready for therapy that goes deeper than insight alone and supports lasting change, I’d be glad to connect. I invite you to schedule a free consultation through my website.
I work with adolescents (12+) and young adult women who are struggling with perfectionism, people-pleasing, self-esteem challenges, anxiety, and relational difficulties. They are often adjusting to major life transitions such as relationship changes, switching schools, and/or changing jobs. Together, we will explore how these experiences impact your sense of self and help you build confidence, set boundaries, and find balance in the midst of change. I offer a trauma-informed, person-centered approach using evidence-based methods like CBT, gestalt, mindfulness, and solution-focused therapy. I am trained in Trauma Focused-CBT at the Medical University of South Carolina. I provide a safe, supportive space where you can feel truly heard and understood. Getting started with therapy can feel like a big step and that’s totally normal. But reaching out is also a really brave move. Whether you’re ready to dive in or just exploring the idea, feel free to reach out. I’d be honored to support you and walk alongside you in whatever you're going through. You matter. You’re not in this alone.
