When you're struggling with an eating disorder, anxiety, or depression, the idea of opening up and trusting another person can be HARD. I know that you've likely heard so many messages throughout your life about what you should do and who you should be, but I don't think that "shoulds" have a place in therapy. Who do you WANT to be? How do you WANT to feel? That is way more important than any shoulds, and I would be honored to walk alongside you as you start to find answers to these questions over time. Together, we can unravel those expectations - what you've been told it means to be healthy or successful or fill in the blank - and get to the heart of what really matters to you and what you need. Being a human is messy, and as your therapist, I'll be right there in that space with you as a human first, therapist second. Let's explore what it means to be humans in a world that expects perfection (which doesn't exist!) and pushes you to grind until you're too burned out to do the things you actually want to do. Whether you realize it today or not, you deserve peace. I have many tools in my toolbox to support you, but to me the most important thing I can do is to provide you a safe space to explore your experience in its entirety at your own pace - to build a connection that is strong enough for you to know that I won't judge you or make you bad or wrong for how you are feeling or for using certain behaviors to cope. It's what you've known to do up to this point, so let's put our heads together and find the ways that this has made sense so we can look at it from a place of compassion instead of judgment. This is a shame-free space! I hold a special place in my heart for those who are working towards eating disorder recovery who feel like they aren't sick enough because their body size, race, sexuality, or gender identity don't match what they are seeing on social media under the eating disorder hashtags. All identities are welcome here, and no matter what your circumstances, your concerns are valid, you ARE sick enough, and you deserve compassionate, equitable care. If anything I've said here makes you think "I like her vibe," please don't hesitate to reach out. I would love to chat further about what it would look like for us to work together.

Do you feel that your relationship has not been the same as it was years ago and you may need guidance on what to do with your partner? By working with me, you may not have to face these challenges on your own. I work with an array of different populations including young adults, college students, transitional-age youth, domestic violence survivors, undocumented immigrants, individuals struggling with major depression and anxiety, and couples. Other areas of interest include helping individuals heal from codependency and breakups, providing support for culturally sensitive-issues impacting the Asian American community, and providing solidarity as an LGBTQ+ ally. Are you seeking to regain control of your thoughts and emotions? Have you ever felt misunderstood, overlooked, or isolated? Witnessing the effects of racism, loss, abuse, and social injustices on individuals and families, I understand the long-lasting consequences of mental and emotional distress. Through my diverse life experiences in society, schools, work environments, social settings, and beyond, I have developed a unique insight and understanding of individuals and families. I am a Registered Marriage and Family Therapist who has a great passion for helping individuals, couples, and families manage their stress, depressive symptoms, and injustice they experience in our society. I provide a customized approach to my therapeutic interventions because I believe that one size does not fit all. I will work with you to develop a plan together and support you in reaching your goals. I offer a holistic, safe space with virtual appointments to accommodate your schedule. Supporting people on their healing journey and helping them live an enhanced life is my passion. This may involve setting healthy boundaries, processing and working through grief and debilitating feelings, or changing your irrational thoughts that negatively affect your behavior and experiences. I aim is to assist you on your journey of self-healing. I believe that we all deserve to live a joyous and fulfilled life. Many of the stressors in life can create a host of negative feelings, reactions, behaviors, and symptoms. In our society, there is great injustice that happens regularly and because of that many communities suffer in silence because they are not accepted. As a Black and Samoan woman, I have experienced first hand, the racial and gender hate crimes that used to cause me immense stress where I fell into a deep depression. Through my own therapy, I learned positive ways to manage my overwhelming thoughts and feelings while validating myself and my experiences. I no longer suffer from anxiety and my depressive symptoms are easier to handle, I also practice mindfulness everyday for overall wellbeing. We all belong and are all worthy. Healing is not linear, but it is possible! If you want to learn more about how I can be of assistance to you, feel free to send me a message.

College can be a time of major change - new pressures, big decisions, and lots of uncertainty. If you're feeling stuck or in transition, we’ll work together to clarify what you want, what’s getting in the way, and how to build more self-trust. You'll learn to feel more grounded, even when things in school or life feel unclear or in-between.

I am inspired by assisting individuals who wish to improve their parenting skills and through my history of educating, volunteering, and supporting the LGBTQIA+ community, I have had success with helping people overcome the effects of traumatic events in their lives. I believe everyone has the capacity to be a whole and happy individual. I ensure my clients feel heard and understood in sessions by using empathy, compassion, and listening. I build trust by providing a safe and non-judgmental space for healing by engaging in active listing and by practicing acceptance of the client’s whole humanity. By seeing a client as a whole individual I am able to help them explore all their facets on their journey of healing.

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Arizona, North Carolina, and South Carolina (LMFT 10386 Arizona, LMFT 20460 North Carolina, LMFT 8265 South Carolina, LMFT 155822 California). I specialize in working with individuals, young adults, and couples/families. My approach to therapy is collaborative and focused on helping all clients feel safe and comfortable in sessions so that change is more likely to occur. I am passionate about helping others heal so that they can feel fulfilled and aligned in life. I love helping clients feel unstuck and helping them get back in touch with their authentic selves so that they can know their worth. I believe that we are all capable of healing and that we have the ability to heal ourselves with the right resources and supports. I used intuitive approaches when working with clients and our work is tailored to fit your needs. I have advanced training in Attachment Theory and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) which allows me to understand how clients’ attachment histories have led to insecurities, feeling stuck, low self-esteem, trauma responses, interpersonal conflict, disconnection in relationships and negative narratives. This model allows individuals and families to heal past hurts and get unstuck from repetitive negative patterns. I have advanced training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), which is an empirically validated model for trauma therapy, and Brainspotting (BSP) Therapy. These models focus on resolving ongoing trauma symptoms by helping the brain and body process information that is uncomfortable or disturbing so that the information is less painful.

Marriage & Family Therapist
San Francisco, CA

As a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist specializing in trauma, adoption, and challenging life experiences, my approach is relational and integrative. I work exclusively online with teens and adults in California who have had significant adverse childhood experiences or recent stressful or traumatic events. Life transitions can trigger old emotional wounds, contributing to anxiety or depression in adulthood. One of the most effective ways to free yourself from symptoms of past trauma is EMDR therapy. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) can provide lasting relief from disturbing memories, reactivity, anxiety, excessive worries, and other emotional distress stemming from adverse experiences in the past. This evidence-based integrative brief psychotherapy approach has been extensively researched and proven effective. Both the World Health Organization and the American Psychiatric Association recommend EMDR as an effective trauma treatment; the Department of Veterans Affairs/Department of  Defense placed EMDR therapy in the "A" category as "strongly recommended" for trauma.
